• PINK GAME: On Saturday the Longhorns will wear pink and encourage fans to do the same in support of breast cancer awareness.
• 400 FOR VIC SCHAEFER: On Wednesday night at Houston, Texas head coach Vic Schaefer recorded his 400th career victory as a head coach. Schaefer, the 2X national coach of the year, has 20 wins over AP top-25 teams in his time at Texas and 19 wins over AP top-10 teams in his career.
• MADISON BOOKER: Madison Booker is showing why she is one of the best players in the country. Booker has earned four Big 12 weekly honors and three national weekly honors this season. Against ranked opponents this season Booker is averaging 20.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists over six games. Only Caitlin Clark and Hannah Hidalgo have better averages against ranked opponents. Booker has eight games scoring 20 or more points this season and has scored in double figures in 15 straight games.
• BOOKER ON WOODEN AWARD/NAISMITH LISTS: Booker was named to the Wooden Award top 20 watch list for the player of the year award. Booker is one of three freshmen on the list and one of two players in the Big 12 on the list. Booker was also named to the Cheryl Miller Award top 10 finalist list, the award for top female collegiate small forward. This week Booker earned a place on the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Midseason Team.
• NCAA TOP 16 REVEAL: The NCAA selection committee revealed their first top 16 on Thursday and they have the Longhorns at No. 8. The committee will do another reveal on Feb. 29 and selection Sunday is March 17.
• RANKED WINS IN THE SCHAEFER ERA: The win over Kansas State represented the Longhorns 20th win over an AP top 25 team under head coach Vic Schaefer. That is tied for fifth most among all D1 programs over that time. It was also the 19th time in his career as a head coach that Schaefer has beat a top-10 opponent.
• GASTON HOMECOMING: Playing in front of upwards of 20 family and friends in Houston, Gaston put on a show with a season-high 21 points to help Texas defeat Houston.
• AALIYAH MOORE COMEBACK: Last season Aaliyah Moore tore her ACL and played only nine games. On her 21st birthday Moore scored 17 points on 7-7 shooting from the field in the Longhorns win over Kansas. Moore has scored in double figures in eight of her last nine games.
• JONES BLOCK PARTY: Taylor Jones set a career-high with seven blocked shots in the Longhorns win over Cincinnati.
• DEFENSE GETTING IT DONE: In the last five games the Longhorns are holding opponents to 53.6 points per game. 22 times this season Texas has held an opponent to single digits for a quarter. In 16 games this season the Longhorns have held their opponent to under 40 percent shooting.
• HOLLE HEATING UP: Senior Shay Holle had a breakout game with a career-high 22 points against Oklahoma on 10-of-12 shooting from the field.
• SHAYLEE GOING OFF: Shaylee Gonzales tied her career-high with six 3-pointers in the Longhorns win over Jackson State on Dec. 27. Gonzales led Texas with 21 points in the game. Gonzales is one of four active players with over 2,000 points and at least 500 assists.
• POUNDING THE PAINT: The Longhorns are +16.5 points per game over opponents in points in the paint this season. Texas averages 41.6 paint points per game.
• GETTING TO THE FREE-THROW LINE: Texas has made (399) as many free-throws as their opponents have attempted this season. Texas is +124 in made free-throws over opponents this season.
• MARGIN OF VICTORY: The Longhorns rank third in the NCAA in margin of victory on the season at +25.7. 22 of the Longhorns 23 wins this season 21 have been by double digits. 14 of their wins have been by 20 or more points.
