No. 2 Women’s Swim & Dive adds four victories on second day of Big 12 Championship

Texas has swept the first six events of the championship meet.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 2 Texas Women's Swimming & Diving earned four titles on day two of the Big 12 Conference Championship at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Wednesday. The Longhorns have won all six events held through the first two days of competition.
Freshman Erin Gemmell started the finals session with a tight victory in the 500 free, out-touching teammate Erica Sullivan with a career-best swim of 4:40.09 to Sullivan's 4:40.15. It marked the first career conference title for Gemmell.
Kelly Pash followed by winning her fifth-straight title in the 200 IM, clocking 1:53.80 to become the first swimmer to win five titles in the event.
Grace Cooper closed out the swimming events with her fourth consecutive title in the 50 free, touching the wall in 22.01. Cooper is the only athlete to win the crown four times and her victory marked the 16th-straight year in which a Longhorn has won the event.
Texas wrapped up the night with the first-ever title in the Team Diving event. Hailey Hernandez, Bridget O'Neil and Jordan Skilken combined to score 376.20 points, more then 50 points ahead of the runner-up Kansas.
The Big 12 Championships continues Thursday with prelims beginning at 8:15 a.m. CT and finals starting at 4:15 p.m. CT. The final session will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

- Texas claimed the top-five spots in the 200 IM. Behind Pash's gold-medal swim, Emma Sticklen won silver in 1:55.05 and Angie Coe claimed bronze in 1:55.99. Campbell Stoll was fourth with a swim of 1:56.76 and Alicia Wilson touched the wall in 1:57.98 to place fifth.
- UT swept the top-three spots in the 50 free with Cooper collecting gold, Ava Longi earning silver with a time of 22.16 and Sienna Schellenger capturing the bronze in 22.36.
