Track and Field wins Clyde Littlefield 4x100 on final day of Texas Relays

Chrystal Herpin launches sixth and final throw for shot put victory.
AUSTIN, Texas – A world best was set, and Longhorns were crowned champions on the final day of the 96th Clyde Littletfield Texas Relays presented by Truist.
Three Texas exes, Lanae Tava-Thomas, Rhasidat Adeleke, Julien Alfred and Great Britain Olympian Dina Asher-Smith combined to run a world-best time of 1:27.05 in the women's 4x200-meter relay. Team International combined to run a meet-record time after UT broke the same record last season. Alfred's anchor leg of 20.8 matches Marion Jones with the all-time fastest anchor leg ever ran.
The Texas women of Lauren Lewis, Dejanea Oakley, Carletta Bernard and Kenondra Davis finished third with a time of 1:32.70.
The squad of Marcellus Moore, Nolton Shelvin, Almond Small and John Rutledge won the Clyde Littlefield men's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 39.22. It's the first time Texas has won the relay since 1990 and marks the 20th time in school history the Longhorns have brought home the gold medal.
In the ring, junior Chrystal Herpin launched a sixth-round throw for 18.18m (59-7.75) to win the women's shot put. The throw moved Herpin up to No. 2 on the All-Time performer list as she became the first Longhorn to win the event since Michelle Carter did in 2007. Marilyn Nwora finished fourth at 17.33m (56-10.25) and Nina Ndubuisi was with at 16.77m (55-0.25). On the men's side, Patrick Piperi finished third with a heave of 18.98m (62-3.25).
After winning Friday's hammer throw with a Texas record, Jeremiah Nubbe finished fifth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 59.19m (194-2). Nubbe's throwed moved him to No. 8 on the UT All-Time Performer list.
In the Jerry Thompson Men's Mile, sophomore Emmanuel Sgouros led the group of Longhorns with a seventh-place finish in a time of 4:07.65. Hudson Heikkinen (4:08.60) and Jack Boyd (4:09.73) rounded out the top-10 finishers.
To end the four-day meet, the men of Logan Popelka, Chris Brinkley, Calebn Hulbin ans Brian Herron finished as the runner-up in the Cleburne Price Jr. Men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:04.11. Herron's anchor leg was 44.68 seconds. The women of Lewis, Oakley, Davis and Ziyah Holman finished fourth in the Sanya Richards-Ross women's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:33.19.
