Plano, Texas – Former Texas All-American defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat was inducted into the Plano Independent School District Hall of Honor on Tuesday following a distinguished prep career as a three-sport athlete at Plano West High School.
"Being inducted into the Plano Hall of Honor means a lot to me," Jeffcoat said. "With such big schools in Plano and so many talented athletes who attended them, the induction is a true honor. One of those is another Texas Ex in Justin Blalock, so it's great to be able to share that with him now. It feels really special to see all the hard work I put in to be the best I could be at football, basketball and track and field acknowledged, and it was so incredible to reconnect with people from Plano ISD on this special day."
Jeffcoat, who attended Plano West from 2006-10, was a prep All-American, a two-time first-team all-state and all-area honoree, and a three-time first-team all-district selection. He was named to the 2009 PARADE All-America High School Football Team, earned first-team All-USA honors by USA Today, was an EA SPORTS All-American first-team selection and was chosen to play in the 2010 Army All-American Bowl. Over his last three seasons at Plano West, he recorded 259 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 56 TFL, 42 pressures, four PBU, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, two blocked kicks and a touchdown, while earning first-team all-state honors from the Associated Press and the Texas Sports Writers Association as a senior. He was also tabbed the Dallas Morning News Defensive Player of the Year. As a junior, he was selected to the 2008 EA SPORTS Football Junior All-America first team and was named first-team all-state by the AP and second-team all-state by the TSWA. Jeffcoat was also a four-year letterman in basketball, being named district Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, and a three-year letterman in track and field.
At Texas, Jeffcoat was a consensus All-American, in addition to capturing the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation's top defensive end as senior in 2013. He was a first-team All-America choice by Walter Camp, the Associated Press and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and one of just five defensive ends in UT history to claim consensus All-America honors. That season, he led the team in tackles (86), tackles for loss (22.0), sacks (13.0) and quarterback pressures (19), and tied for first in fumbles recovered (3). He was the only FBS lineman to lead his team in tackles and ranked tied for third nationally in sacks (1.0 per game). Jeffcoat played four seasons with the Longhorns, appearing in 40 games with 33 starts, all at defensive end. For his career, he tallied 203 tackles (100 solo), including 27.5 sacks and 60 TFLs, 41 quarterback pressures, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Jeffcoat went on to sign free agent contracts with Seattle, Washington and Cleveland in the NFL before joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in 2017. He remained with Winnipeg for seven seasons until retiring earlier this year, having won two Grey Cups with the team in 2019 and 2021, while also getting a nod as a CFL All-Star 2021. He finished his Blue Bombers career with 147 tackles, 38 sacks and 13 forced fumbles.
