Women's Cross Country wins Chile Pepper 5K

Olivia Howell leads Longhorns with third-place individual finish.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Texas women won the 2024 Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival's Harter Habanero 5K on Saturday scoring 42 points.
The Longhorns defeated LSU who finished second with 75 and No. 12 Arkansas (88).
Olivia Howell set a massive personal best in the 5K finishing third overall with her time of 16:25.1. She shed 50 seconds off her previous best (17:15.2) that was set at the season opener.
Senior Eva Jess finished fifth overall with her time of 16:29.5, recording a 54 second personal best. Just behind her in sixth was junior Elizabeth Pickett who finished in 16:30.2. Pickett also recorded a 54-second personal best on Saturday.
Graduate transfer Elizabeth Stockman was 12th with a time of 16:57.1. Stockman's time was an 18 second personal best. Texas freshman Sydni Wilkins made her second appearance in the burnt orange and finished 16th with a time of 17:00.1, taking 39 seconds off her collegiate opener.
The final two scorers for the Longhorns were sophomore transfer Melody Espinoza and Brighton Mooney. The duo both finished with a time of 17:13.7, finishing 26th and 27th, respectively.
The Longhorn women will travel to Chicago on Oct. 4 for the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational.
