Texas' 38-point win is the largest margin of victory against a Top-10 opponent in program history.
NEWARK, N.J. — Madison Booker scored 28 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field, and the Texas defense forced 27 turnovers in a 89-51 win over No. 8/9 Maryland on Monday.
The Longhorns and Terrapins played on MLK Day in the Coretta Scott King Classic at the Prudential Center.
Kyla Oldacre scored 15 points, Taylor Jones added 13 and Shay Holle contributed 12 points. Rori Harmon dished out seven assists for the Longhorns.
The Longhorns scored six of the first seven points of the game and used a 9-0 run to take a 15-5 lead on a 3-pointer by Madison Booker.
Booker found a running Kyla Oldacre and hit her in stride for a basket and the foul. Oldacre coverted the three-point play to put Texas up 24-8.
The Longhorns opened the second quarter with a 9-2 run. Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda made back-to-back buckets for Texas to put the Longhorns up 37-14. Texas outscored Maryland 20-6 in the second quarter.
Texas made five straight field goals in the third quarter and extended their lead to 63-28 on a Taylor Jones layup off an assist from Aaliyah Moore.
Up next, the Longhorns return to Austin to host Tennessee on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8:00 p.m. CT. Limited tickets remain for the game against the Volunteers.

• Maryland came in averaging 84 points per game and the Longhorns held them to 51 points.
• Texas scored 52 points in the paint and shot 37-of-69 (53.6 percent) from the field. This was the 12th game this season that Texas has shot 50 percent or better.
• Madison Booker recorded her eighth game of the season with 20 or more points.
