No. 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving tops No. 6 Tennessee in conference home opener, 120-65

Maurer leads with wins in the 1000 free and 400 IM as Longhorns capture six events.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving team opened its home slate with a decisive 120–65 victory over No. 6 Tennessee on Friday morning at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Rex Maurer led the Longhorns with two individual wins, opening with the 1000-yard freestyle (8:42.30) and later taking the 400-yard individual medley (3:41.19).
Will Modglin claimed the 200 backstroke in 1:39.41, while Nate Germonprez led a strong showing in the 200 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:52.25, followed by Campbell McKean (1:53.49).
The Longhorns closed the swimming portion of the session with a win in the 400 medley relay, as Modglin, Germonprez, Ryan Branon and Rafael Fente-Damers combined for a time of 3:04.92.
On the boards, senior Nick Harris highlighted the diving events with a victory in the 3-meter (417.60) and a runner-up finish on the 1-meter (380.03).
Up next, Texas will host its Diving Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Nov. 13.
