AUSTIN, TEXAS – Legendary rock and roll icons The Beach Boys will headline Longhorn City Limits presented by Hollister on November 1 following Texas Football's SEC home opener versus Vanderbilt. Austin's own The Nightowls will kick off gameday with live music beginning at 8:30 a.m. Located on the LBJ Lawn, admission to LCL is FREE for all concerts throughout the season.
For more than six decades, The Beach Boys have defined the California sound, revolutionizing popular music and influencing generations of artists across every genre. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, their catalog of classics include "Good Vibrations," "Surfin' U.S.A.," "California Girls," "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Fun, Fun, Fun," and "God Only Knows" have become the soundtrack of American life. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, The Beach Boys remain one of the most beloved and enduring bands in history, continuing to perform an average of 150 shows a year across the globe.
At the helm is founding member Mike Love. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this year, Love's distinctive vocals and acclaimed songwriting helped craft some of pop music's most enduring masterpieces, including the band's groundbreaking 1966 album Pet Sounds. Grammy-winning musician Bruce Johnston, who joined the group in 1965, adds his own celebrated legacy, having collaborated with icons such as Elton John and Pink Floyd. Together, Love and Johnston lead a talented touring lineup featuring musical director Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago, and John Wedemeyer that honor The Beach Boys' rich legacy while inspiring new generations of fans.
Over the years, The Beach Boys have continued to celebrate their remarkable journey with projects such as the 50th anniversary reunion tour and album That's Why God Made the Radio, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard charts, and most recently, the 2024 Disney+ documentary THE BEACH BOYS, which offers fans a comprehensive look at the band's journey from their humble beginnings to becoming one of the most influential acts in music history. Directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, the film features never-before-seen footage, interviews with band members including Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston, and contributions from other industry luminaries such as Lindsey Buckingham and Janelle Monáe. In 2023, the iconic band was honored in the CBS tribute special A Grammy Salute to The Beach Boys, featuring performances by artists including Beck, Brandi Carlile, Weezer, and John Legend.
"The Beach Boys are true American trailblazers whose music continues to bring joy to audiences across generations," said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Lois and Richard Folger Athletics Director. "Their timeless hits will make for an unforgettable day at LCL for Longhorn Nation as we once again celebrate live music on the Forty Acres."
In their hometown of Austin, The Nightowls are a staple act—defining the city's soul and funk sound since 2011. With electrifying live shows and a catalog of bold, original music, the band fuses classic rhythm and modern style into something unmistakably timeless.
