Forward collects first career weekly league distinction
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standout Ava McDonald was tabbed the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
In the Longhorns' season finale, McDonald netted her first career game-winning goal and added an assist in the 2-0 victory over Ole Miss.
The 5-foot-6 forward scored the front leg of a pair of tallies mounted in a 21-second span, which marked the second-quickest consecutive goals recorded in a conference match in program history.
McDonald finished her freshman campaign with a team-best nine goals and 22 points. During the regular season, the Allen, Texas, native paced all SEC freshmen in goals, points, shots (67) and shots on goal (32).
She is the second Longhorn to garner weekly league distinction in 2025, joining Amalia Villarreal (Sept. 29).
