No. 4 Volleyball takes down South Carolina, 3-1, on senior night

The Longhorns have now recorded 21 straight seasons with 20 wins under Head Coach Jerritt Elliott
AUSTIN, Texas. — The No. 4 Texas Volleyball team (21-2, 13-2 SEC) wrapped up regular season with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21) win against South Carolina. There now have been 10 seasons under Head Coach Jerritt Elliott with just two regular season losses. The Longhorns honored four seniors (Emma Halter, Kenna Miller, Whitney Lauenstein, Devin Kahahawai) at Gregory Gymnasium at the end of the match.
Torrey Stafford led Texas to the win with match-leading 25 kills, marking her tenth game hitting over .400 (.408) and seventh game with at least 20 kills. Ella Swindle (25) and Rella Binney (20) combined for 45 assists for the Longhorns. The Longhorns totaled 11 blocks, recording their highest of the season in four-set matches, with sophomore Ayden Ames and freshman Taylor Harvey each registering four of their own. Texas forced 19 Gamecock errors and hit .300 in the win.
Set One: Texas cruised through the first set with a 4-0 run, winning the set 25-16. Stafford totaled six kills and hit .400. Ramsey Gary tallied five digs while Ella Swindle recorded six assists. The Longhorns limited the Gamecocks to a .097 hitting percentage and forced six errors.
Set Two: The Longhorns took set two 25-21 after the Texas defense put up four blocks. South Carolina was held to a .154 attacking percentage and committed eight errors.
Set Three: Texas unable to utilize a 5-0 run late in the set as it dropped the third, 19-25. Stafford led the charge with seven kills and hit .385, while Swindle added eight assists. South Carolina hit .500 and committed only one error off 28 swings.
Set Four: The Longhorns won the final set of the match on a 4-0 run. Texas offense recorded a .520 hitting percentage while the defense put up four blocks. Stafford registered a set-leading seven kills and Halter contributed four digs.
Texas will travel to Savannah, Georgia to start its SEC Tournament campaign as the No. 3 seed on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network. The Longhorns will play Missouri and the winner of the LSU/Ole Miss match.
