No. 3 Volleyball dominates Ole Miss to advance to SEC Championships Semifinals

AUSTIN, Texas. — The No. 3 Texas Volleyball team (22-2, 13-2 SEC) dominated Ole Miss (25-11, 25-17, 25-8) in the Quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. The Longhorns have swept their opponents 12 times this season.
Texas's offense recorded a .475 hitting percentage in the win, its 14thmatch this season hitting over .400. Torrey Stafford totaled 16 kills and eight digs, while hitting .500 - her fourth time doing so this season. Stafford now has 412 kills this year to set a new career season high in kills for the junior. Freshman Cari Spears put up her third game hitting over .500 (579) in the season with 11 kills and five digs. Freshman Taylor Harvey registered five blocks, tying her season high, while the Texas defense totaled nine on the night.
Set One: The Longhorns dominated the opening set with a 9-0 run, their longest scoring run of the season. The defense limited the Rebels to only 11 points, marking the lowest score in a set from an opponent at the time. The Longhorns hit .643 and committed no errors for their highest hitting percentage in a set and limited Ole Miss to a .074 hitting percentage for the lowest opponent scoring set of the season. Stafford tallied a set-leading eight kills and hit .615 and Swindle dished out 12 assists.
Set Two: Texas took the closest set of the match, 25-17. Ella Swindle dished out nine assists and two digs, while Stafford put up three kills and four digs. The Longhorns recorded a .367 hitting percentage while the Rebels committed four services errors.
Set Three: The Longhorns won the final set and opened on a 9-0 run, ending it 25-8 for its new lowest score they have allowed this season. The last time Texas has limited its opponent to a single digit scoring in a set was November 6, 2024, against Mississippi State. The Longhorns forced the Rebels to a negative .114 hitting percentage and forced 11 errors, while hitting .409 with zero error themselves. Harvey recorded two blocks and Texas defense put up six blocks in the set.
Texas will face off against No. 2 seed Texas A&M in the Semifinal of the SEC Tournament on Monday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
