No. 2 Women’s Swimming turns in strong Day 3 showing at the Texas Invitational

Jillian Cox leads a strong distance group as Angie Coe and Eva Okaro add top-three finishes.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 Women's Swimming team delivered a strong Day 3 showing at the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational, highlighted by three top-eight finishes in both the 500 freestyle and the 200 breaststroke, along with a podium finish in the 50 free.
In the 500 free, Jillian Cox powered to the win in 4:32.92 to lead a trio of Longhorns in the top four. Nikolett Padar finished third in 4:36.45 and Lillian Nesty touched fourth in 4:37.52. Kate Hurst added an eighth-place finish in 4:42.91 to give Texas four swimmers in the top eight. Haley McDonald contributed a 4:44.75 from the C-final.
Texas placed three swimmers in the A-final of the 200 breast, led by Angie Coe's runner-up finish in 2:07.59. Piper Enge placed fourth in 2:08.53 and Campbell Stoll followed in sixth at 2:09.22. Campbell Chase won the C-final with a 2:08.94, and Avery Collins placed 20th overall with a 2:12.36.
In the 100 back, Berit Berglund recorded a third-place finish in 51.48, and Emma Kern placed seventh in 52.22. Sienna Schellenger tied for ninth overall after winning the B-final in 52.59, while Meghan DiMartile won the C-final in 53.28.
In the 50 free, Eva Okaro sprinted to a third-place finish in 21.63. Alexa Fulton took 10th overall in 22.23, Angie Coe placed 12th in 22.32 and Lucy Mehraban touched 14th in 22.64. Sienna Schellenger (22.41), Ella Mongenel (22.92) and Brooke Adams (23.13) added additional swims.
The Longhorns capped the night with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay, clocking a 3:28.53 behind Berglund, Enge, Okaro and Padar.
The Texas Invitational continues tomorrow at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
