Football debuts at No. 11 in College Football Playoff rankings

The Longhorns debuted at No. 11 in the first 2025 College Football Playoff rankings, which were released Tuesday night on ESPN.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football debuted at No. 11 in the first 2025 College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings released on Tuesday night. The Longhorns have 13-consecutive top-11 CFP rankings, dating back to Oct. 31, 2023.
Texas debuts inside the CFP top-11 for the third-straight season and has been in the top-25 in each of the last 16 CFP rankings with 29 overall appearances. The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press and US LBM Coaches Poll.
The Longhorns are the nation's only program to appear in each of the last two College Football Playoffs after making semifinal appearances in 2023 and 2024. Texas made its first CFP appearance in 2023 facing the No. 2/2/2 Washington Huskies in CFP semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Longhorns climbed from No. 7 in the penultimate 2023 ranking to No. 3 on selection day.
In 2024, the Longhorns debuted at No. 5 in the CFP rankings – its highest-ever spot in the first week of CFP rankings. Texas later entered the top three and climbed to the program's highest CFP ranking at No. 2 during Week 15. The Longhorns finished the 2024 season ranked No. 3.

The Longhorns have a bye week on Nov. 8 before traveling to No. 5/5 Georgia on Nov. 15 for a 6:30 p.m. CT/7:30 p.m. ET kick at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., with the game broadcast on ABC.
