Rori Harmon moved into third on the Longhorns all-time for career steals (320) with seven tonight.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas women's basketball (13-0) tallied 19 steals as they took a 96-38 victory over Northwestern State on Wednesday at Moody Center.
The Longhorns saw four players scoring double-digits, with Madison Booker leading the team with 28 points. Booker is now 22nd all time in scoring at 1,479. Rori Harmon recorded third double-doubles of the season, her 13th in her career, with 11 points and 10 assists. Harmon moved into third on the Longhorns all-time for career steals with a career-high seven tonight. She now has recorded 320 steals in her career for Texas.
Texas opened the game on a 13-0 run led by forward Madison Booker, who sank five points that included a shot from beyond the arc. The Longhorns made their first eight shots in the game. The Texas defense forced eight turnovers and scored 12 points off them, bringing the score to 25-9 at the end of the quarter. Rori Harmon contributed 10 points in the opening period.
In the second quarter, senior Ashton Judd made her debut for the Longhorns and opened her scoring with a layup. Texas proceeded to close out the half 45-19. Booker and Rori Harmon led the team in scoring with a combined 23 points while Kyla Oldacre led in rebounds with five.
Texas wrapped up the third quarter with a 6-0 run over 1:38 to extend the lead to 40 points over the Lady Demons. Jordan Lee shot perfect, sinking three 3-pointers and making both her free throws. She ended the quarter with 11 points and ended the night with 15 points. Booker added eight points to her scoresheet while shooting 80 percent (4-for-5) during the third period.
The Longhorns ended the game by holding the Lady Demons to only seven points in the final quarter, the 11thtime this season limiting their opponent to single digits. Kyla Oldacre registered 10 points and six rebounds during the period to seal the win for Texas.
Up next the Longhorns will travel to South Dakota State to face the Jackrabbits on Dec. 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Frost Arena. That game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
