Texas looks for fourth 10-0 start under head coach Mike White during weekend’s homestand
AUSTIN, Texas – A week after opening the 2025 regular season with a three-city trip along the I-10 corridor, The University of Texas softball program will welcome fans to the friendly confines of Red & Charline McCombs Field for this weekend's Bevo Classic, hosted by the Longhorns.
Maryland and UMass will open the three-day slate at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 with the host Longhorns set to take the field for their first game of the weekend at 4 p.m. against the Terrapins. Throughout the weekend, Texas will also square off against UMass out of the Atlantic 10 Conference as well as a nationally ranked Texas Tech program.
TELEVISION: While only the five Texas softball games will be available to watch on SEC Network+ or the ESPN app, the broadcast talent will rotate on a day-by-day basis. Alex Loeb (play by play) and Cat Osterman (analyst) will have the call for Friday's slate against Maryland and Texas Tech, while Andrew Haynes (play by play) will be heard on Saturday against UMass and Maryland. The weekend will wrap up with Chris Mycoskie (play by play) and Megan Willis (analyst) calling Sunday's game between Texas Tech and Texas.

SERIES HISTORY:
- Maryland
- Texas holds a 2-1 lead over Maryland in the three-game series history following back-to-back mercy-rule victories over the Terrapins: 10-2 (6 innings) on Feb. 11, 2017; 17-0 (5) on Feb. 6, 2020.
- Both Longhorns victories happened in Austin.
- Maryland's lone win in the series history occurred on Feb. 23, 2007, when the Terrapins earned a 3-2 victory in Cathedral City, Calif.
- Texas holds a 2-1 lead over Maryland in the three-game series history following back-to-back mercy-rule victories over the Terrapins: 10-2 (6 innings) on Feb. 11, 2017; 17-0 (5) on Feb. 6, 2020.
- UMass
- Saturday's game will mark the first time UMass and Texas have ever met on a softball diamond since Feb. 27, 2011 in Cathedral City, Calif.
- The two have played in Austin only one throughout the four-game series history: May 20, 2005, when Texas won 1-0.
- Texas has not lost to UMass since Feb. 8, 2002, when the Minutewomen picked up a 9-1 win in five innings in a game played in Phoenix, Ariz.
- The Longhorns are currently riding a two-game winning streak and will be looking to become the first team to win three consecutive games in the series history.
- In each of Texas' wins over UMass, the Minutewomen have not scored a run.
- Texas Tech
- In one of the most extensive series in Texas softball history, the Red Raiders and Longhorns have met 73 times with UT picking up the win on 61 occasions.
- Texas is currently riding a 12-game winning streak over Texas Tech, dating back to the Red Raiders' last win (5-1) on May 15, 2021 during the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla.
- The Red Raiders have not beaten the Longhorns during the regular season since April 6, 2019, when Texas Tech picked up a 3-2 victory in Lubbock.
- TTU has not beaten UT in Austin since April 8, 2016, when the Red Raiders picked up a 3-2 win, before the Longhorns bounced back to earn 2-0 and 8-4 wins, respectively, to take the three-game series.
- Since taking over at the helm of the Texas softball program prior to the 2019 season, Longhorn head coach Mike White is 17-2 against Texas Tech.
- The last four consecutive Texas wins have come via the eight-run mercy rule: 13-3 (5 innings) on May 3, 2024; 23-0 (5) on May 4, 2024; 14-4 (5) on May 5, 2024 and 13-4 (5) on May 9, 2024.
LEADING OFF
- With seven more runs batted in (RBI), third-year Longhorn Reese Atwood will reach the 150-career RBI milestone, becoming just the fifth Texas softball student-athlete to reach the mark.
- Mary Iakopo (2019-22) became the last Texas softball student-athlete to reach the 150-career RBI mark when she drove in a run on a second-inning solo home run against Iowa State on April 3, 2022.
- Iakopo went on to finish her career as a Longhorn with 171 career RBI, the second most in program history.

- Mac Morgan (2023-P) will enter this weekend's action just two wins shy of tying Shea O'Leary (2019-22) and Amy Bradford (2002-05) for seventh on the program's career wins list at 37.
- The next time she takes the pitching circle, Morgan will look to improve on her 35-5 career record since arriving on the Forty Acres.
- When Mia Scott is credited with her next stolen base, the senior will break into the program's career stolen base top 10 list with her 52nd career stolen base, tying Autumn Eastes (1998-01) for 10th place on the list.
- Mia Scott will enter her next game as one of just three active Division I softball student-athletes with 600-or-more career official plate appearances.
