Track and Field's Jess breaks 5K program record

Longhorns move up on the school's all-time performer list in six events.
CLEMSON,/BOSTON – After a split weekend of competition, Eva Jess of the Texas track and field program ran away with the Texas women's 5,000-meter school record.
Jess ended the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in the 5K with a 30-second personal best and took down Sara Sutherland's 12-year school record. Prior to Saturday night, Jess's best time was 16:15.67. Sydni Wilkin's time of 16:23.79 moved her to No. 9 on the UT all-time performer list.
Elizabeth Stockman recorded a four-second personal best with a time of 4:40.58 in the women's mile. The time also moved her to No. 4 on the UT All-Time Performer List with the fifth-fastest time in school history.Kyra Pretre (4:46.07), Mackenize Browne (4:47.18 – 13 second PB), Aishling Callanan (4:49.51) and Kaylin Rendon (4:55.69) were the final Longhorns to cross the finish line.
In the 3,000-meter, Elizabeth Pickett moved to No. 8 All-Time with her time of 9:16.98.
Back in Clemson at the Tiger Paw Invite, Nina Ndubuisi of the women's track and field team won the women's shot put with a personal best throw that improved her spot at No. 2 on the UT All-Time Performer List.
Ndubuisi, the two-time All-American, won the shot put on her fourth-round throw of 18.35m (60-2.50). Ndubuisi sits behind only Michelle Carter for the best thrower in indoor history for the Longhorns. Chrystal Herpin was sixth with her throw of 16.39m (53-9.25).
The women's 200-meter saw Carleta Bernard post the top time for UT in 23.33. Freshman Holly Okuku recorded her second-straight PB in the event with a time of 23.36. Ramiah Elliott (23.48), Micayah Holland (23.67), Nita Koom-Dadzie (23.78) and Akala Garrett rounded out the final 200m runners. John Rutledge posted a top-10 finish in the men's side with an eighth-place finish in 20.89.
Amity Ebarb led a trio of Longhorns in the women's 800-meter dash finishing in the top-20 with an indoor personal best time of 2:07.93. Freshmen Gia Kurp (2:13.36) and Grace Kowalski (2:14.31) finished 25th and 27th, respectively.
In the men's shot put open, freshman Brandon Schirck finished ninth with a throw of 16.07m (52-8.75). Michael Pinones finished as the runner-up in the shot put invite with a personal best throw of 18.89m (61-11.75).
Sam Hurley finished third in the men's pole vault invitational after he cleared 5.40m (17-8.50) on his third attempt. Sam Abati was fourth clearing 5.25m (17-2.75).
The men of Amir Thompson, Rutledge, Xavier Butler and Logan Popelka ran a season best 4x400-meter relay time of 3:06.75 for the 16th fastest time in UT history.
