The Longhorns snap South Carolina's 57-game SEC win streak, improve to 13-0 at home this season.
AUSTIN, Texas — Madison Booker recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds and Kyla Oldacre scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds as the No. 4/6 Texas women's basketball team emerged victorious, 66-62 over No. 2/2 South Carolina on Sunday at Moody Center in front of a crowd of 10,517.
Taylor Jones added a third Texas player to score in double figures with 11 points. Jones tallied four steals to go with two steals by Oldacre.
At the end of the opening quarter, freshman guard Bryanna Preston sank two free throws giving Texas a 18-16 lead heading into the second quarter. Taylor Jones had seven points in the first quarter.
Senior guard Shay Holle extended their lead with a baseline layup at the start of the second quarter. Oldacre scored the final basket of the first half, giving Texas a 36-27 halftime lead. In the first half, Texas held South Carolina to 36 percent shooting with Texas shooting 50 percent.
In the third quarter, junior guard Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda went 3-of-3 from the field helping to keep the game tied 49-49 going into the fourth quarter.
With the Longhorns leading 60-59 Oldacre made back-to-back baskets to put Texas up 64-59 with 2:21 to play.
The Gamecocks would cut that lead to 64-62 with 51 seconds left, but Rori Harmon made a pair of clutch free-throws with 10.8 seconds remaining to secure the victory for Texas.
Up next the Longhorns travel to Lexington, Kentucky to face the No. 11 Wildcats on Thursday, Feb. 13th at 6:00 PM CT. This game will be televised on ESPN2.

• Texas improved to 24-2 on the season and 10-1 in SEC play.

• Texas held South Carolina to 13 points in the fourth quarter. The Gamecocks shot 4-of-15 (26.7 percent) from the field in the final quarter.
