No. 2 Women’s Diving’s Estudillo Torres wins platform to conclude NCAA Zone D Championships

The diving duo of Alejandra Estudillo Torres and Bayleigh Cranford qualified for the platform at the NCAA Championships.
IOWA CITY, Iowa – No. 2 Texas Dive's Alejandra Estudillo Torres (1st-639.85) won the platform at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships Wednesday afternoon at the CRWC, qualifying for the event at the 2025 NCAA Championships on March 19-22 in Federal Way, Wash. Sophomore Bayleigh Cranford also qualified for the platform at the national meet after earning a sixth-place finish with 552.50 points.
The Longhorns swept all three events over the week at the Zone D Championships. In addition, Texas had the most finalists in each of the three finals.
Estudillo Torres won two of three dives this week after winning the 3-meter on Monday (1st-687.45) and recording a runner-up finish in the 1-meter (2nd-615.15) on Tuesday. The freshman from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, has qualified for all three dives at the NCAA Championships next week. Cranford will be able to enter all three dives at the national meet after meeting the benchmark qualification in the 3-meter (8th-626.75) and platform (6th-552.50) while securing a top-12 finish (12th-574.30) in the 1-meter on Tuesday.
Freshman Taylor Fox and junior Sarah Carruthers also advanced to the platform final Wednesday with Fox placing 12th (522.20) and Carruthers finishing 13th (499.45).
Overall, three Longhorns (Estudillo Torres, Cranford and Hailey Hernandez) qualified for the NCAA Championships. Hernandez was victorious in the 1-meter on Tuesday with a final score of 624.60 and will also be able to participate in the 3-meter after finishing 12th with 574.30 total points on Monday.
