Team Rankings
The Longhorns are ranked No. 2 in the final College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Division I regular season poll (March), trailing top-ranked Virginia by just 17 points. The top-10 includes Virginia (425), Texas (408), Stanford (386), Tennessee (373), Florida (356), Louisville (338), Indiana (326), Michigan (304), California (295) and North Carolina State (270).
New Conference, Same Result
In its inaugural appearance, Texas won the 2025 SEC Championship on Feb. 22, hosted at the University of Georgia. The Longhorns collected 1,450 total points, 271 points over second-place Florida (1,179). The Longhorns have won 13-consecutive conference titles (12 Big 12, 1 SEC) across two conferences, all since the arrival of head coach Carol Capitani. It was the 37th overall conference crown for the women's swim and dive program since 1983 (14 Southwest Conference, 22 Big 12, 1 SEC).
SEC Meet Honors
Senior Emma Sticklen was named the SEC Swimmer of the Meet and shared the Commissioner's Cup Trophy with Tennessee's Camille Spink after both student-athletes recorded the highest points total at 96 apiece throughout the conference championship. Sticklen took home five gold medals (200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly), along with a silver in the 400 free relay.
In the Diving Well
Three Longhorn divers are set to compete this week in Bayleigh Cranford (1-meter, 3-meter and platform), Alejandra Estudillo Torres (1-meter, 3-meter and platform) and Hailey Hernandez (1-meter and 3-meter). During the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on March 10-12 in Iowa City, Iowa, Texas swept all three events. Estudillo Torres, a freshman from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, won the platform (1st-639.85) and 3-meter (1st-687.45) while finishing runner-up in the 1-meter (2nd-615.15), so she is scheduled to compete in all three events this week. Hernandez was victorious in the 1-meter at zones after drawing a final score of 624.60 and will also participate in the 3-meter at NCAAs after placing in the top-12 at the Zone D Championships. Cranford will be competing in all three dives at the national meet after meeting the benchmark qualification in the 3-meter (8th-626.75) and platform (6th-552.50) while securing a top-12 finish (12th-574.30) in the 1-meter at the Zone D Championships.
Storied Program
The Horns have finished inside the top-three in each of the last four seasons at NCAAs. Texas finished as the runner-up at the 2022, 2023 and 2024 national meets after placing third in 2021. Overall, Texas has claimed a total of nine national titles in its proud history. The Longhorns won AIAW national championships in 1981 and 1982. UT added NCAA team titles in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990 and 1991.
Head Coach Carol Capitani
Carol Capitani is in her 13th season at the helm of the Texas program. She has led the Longhorns to 13-straight conference crowns (2013-25) and top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships in 10 of the last 11 meets held. Capitani has guided UT to three-consecutive second-place finishes.
