Texas enters the match against UCLA with a 28-4 record, which is the second most in the span since 1975 when teams began playing fewer matches in a season. The most in that time is 29 by the 2019 team that won the program's first National Championship. This season, the Longhorns have wins over No. 1 TCU, No. 5 Virginia, No. 13 Texas A&M, two over South Carolina when they were Nos. 13 and 26, two over No. 14 Tennessee, No. 18 Arizona State, No. 22 Oklahoma and No. 22 Mississippi State. Meanwhile, two of their four losses have also been by a 4-3 score.

Texas has reached the NCAA quarterfinals for the third-straight year, and the fifth time in the last six. The Longhorns will now attempt to also advance to the semifinals for the third-straight season and the ninth time in program history, including 1993, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024.
-Texas earns No. 3 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Championships
UT earned the No. 3 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Championship field that was announced by the NCAA. It marks the third-straight year Texas has been a top-three seed, after having been the No. 2 seed last year and the No. 1 seed in 2023. It is also the fifth time in the last six years the Longhorns have been in the top four after being No. 4 in 2021 and No. 2 in 2019. The tournament was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic. The Longhorns earned their 33rd consecutive bid to the NCAA Championships and their 42nd overall selection since the NCAA bracketed tournament was introduced in 1977. In winning in this year's first three rounds, they have compiled an 81-40 (.669) all-time record in the tournament. Texas hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Championships for an eighth-straight year and for the 10th time in the last 11 in which the tournament has been held. UT has also hosted a Super Regional in four of the last five years they have been able to with the exception being in 2022. Also, the round of 16 was instead played at the championship site in 2021 due to the pandemic. Along with winning the 2019 National Championship, the Longhorns were the national runners-up in 2024 and 2008, and additionally made it to the semifinals in 1993, 2006, 2009, 2021 and 2023. They have reached at least the round of 16 in each of the last 11 years with six quarterfinals appearances in 2014, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025 in that span.
-UCLA Series: UCLA leads, 8-3
Texas and UCLA have met 11 times since 1975, with the Bruins holding an 8-3 lead in the series, however the Longhorns have won the last three. That includes last year when the teams faced each other in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Austin in a match that was forced inside due to weather and Texas claimed a 4-0 sweep. They also played in 2020 at the ITA National Indoors in Madison, Wisc., in the round of 16, which resulted in a 4-2 win for UT. Prior to that, it had been since 2008, when Texas defeated UCLA, 4-2, in the NCAA semifinals in Tulsa, Okla. The wins for the Bruins have come in 2000, 1998, 1997, 1987, 1986, 1985 and two in 1977. Four of those were in the NCAA Tournament, including 2000 in the round of 16, 1998 in the first round, 1986 and 1977 in the second round. In all, the teams have squared off six times in NCAA play with UCLA winning four.

Texas was tabbed No. 1 in the preseason coaches poll released January 6 by the ITA, held that through the first two weeks, moved to No. 3 on February 5, to No. 4 for two weeks, back to No. 3 on March 11, again to No. 4 on March 18, to No. 5 on March 25, back up to No. 3 on April 8, and again at No. 4 on April 15. They returned to No. 3 on April 22 and remained there on May 1, which is the 108th-straight week in the top 15 dating back to April 2018.

Texas had six listings in the most recent ITA individual rankings that were released May 1 with four in the singles top-75 and one top-10 doubles pair. Texas claimed both the No. 2 and No. 26 players in Timo Legout and Sebastian Gorzny, while Pierre-Yves Bailly was also in the top-60 at No. 54, and Jonah Braswell was No. 72. In doubles, Legout and Brown were No. 10, Gorzny and Braswell were No. 66, and Bailly and Sebastian Eriksson were No. 81.

Timo Legout
The SEC Player and Freshman of the Year, Timo Legout is currently ranked No. 1 nationally in singles and No. 10 in doubles with a high ranking during the year of No. 5 in doubles. He is 34-3 in singles this year with a 21-2 dual match record and a perfect 12-0 conference record, playing No. 1 in every match. He defeated the No. 1 of every SEC team except Kentucky with that going unfinished while he was up a set and leading in the second set. He has 23 ranked wins, 14 of which are in the top 50. He has notable wins this year over then-No. 4 Cooper Williams of Duke, then-No. 5 Colton Smith of Arizona, then-No. 17 and spring NCAA Singles Champion Filip Planinsek of Alabama, then-No. 17 Stefan Dostanic of Wake Forest, then-No. 18 Jack Pinnington Jones of TCU and No. 20 Connor Thomson of South Carolina. He has also played No. 1 in 27 of 29 dual matches in doubles and was 7-5 in the SEC with 12 ranked wins overall this year and seven in the top-30. He and Lucas Brown have won their last three decisions with two of those wins in the top-10. Legout has earned four SEC weekly awards combined between Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week. In the fall, he was a semifinalist in both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, both the singles and doubles champion at the ITA Texas Regionals, and the MVP of the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
Sebastian Gorzny
A first-team All-SEC selection, Sebastian Gorzny joined Texas this year after transferring from TCU. He is currently ranked No. 26 in singles and has been as high as No. 2 this year, and he is ranked No. 66 in doubles with Jonah Braswell after being was a doubles All-American last season. Gorzny is 21-9 overall in singles this year, including 15-8 in dual matches where he has played predominantly at No. 2, along with being 6-3 in the SEC. He has 10 ranked singles wins and was leading No. 2 Pedro Vives in a match that went unfinished in March. In the fall, he opened his UT career with five-straight ranked victories, including over then-No. 5 Colton Smith of Arizona, to reach the singles final of the ITA All-American Championships before having to withdraw due to injury prior to the match. He later also defeated then-No. 7 Gavin Young of Michigan in the NCAA Singles Championships. In doubles, he is 18-12 overall, 16-10 in dual matches and 6-6 in the SEC, mostly at No. 2 with Braswell, although he has played with six different partners throughout the year. Gorzny and Braswell have won their last three decisions, including a top-50 win against South Carolina.
Pierre-Yves Bailly
A first-team All-SEC selection, Pierre-Yves Bailly is currently ranked No. 54 in singles and No. 81 in doubles, while during his career he has been ranked as high as No. 17 in singles and No. 41 in doubles. This spring, he has been healthier and has had his best season since he was a freshman, posting a 21-2 singles dual match record with a 7-2 mark in the SEC playing mostly at No. 3 and was either leading or tied in all three of his unfinished SEC matches. He was also the SEC Athlete of the Week on February 12 and was just named the SEC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Overall this year, he has a 24-6 singles record with five ranked wins and two in the top 15. He had a 10-match winning streak earlier this season and has currently won 11 of his last 12 decisions, including five straight. Both of his dual match losses were to ranked opponents, including No. 25. In doubles, Bailly is 17-8 in dual matches and 8-4 in the SEC, mostly at No. 2, along with being 22-10 overall. He and partner Sebastian Eriksson have won nine of their last 12 decisions. In October, he and Timo Legout had a win over No. 7 Sebastian Abboud and Piotr Pawlak of Texas Tech.
Jonah Braswell
Jonah Braswell is currently ranked No. 72 in singles, but has been as high as No. 20 this year, along with being as high as No. 66 in doubles where he currently is with Sebastian Gorzny. Braswell has produced a 21-9 overall singles record, including 13-5 in dual matches and 4-3 in the SEC, while playing mostly No. 4. He has seven ranked singles victories, including over then-No. 6 Radu Papoe of Cornell in September. He was also the ITA Texas Regionals singles runner-up in the fall and last year's Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. In doubles, Braswell is 15-6 in dual matches and 6-2 in the SEC, mostly at No. 2 in conference play and at No. 3 in non-conference. He is 18-8 overall in doubles this year and 9-4 with Gorzny and they have won their last three decisions, including a top-50.
Sebastian Eriksson
Sebastian Eriksson arrived at Texas in January and made an immediate impact, putting together a 16-5 dual match singles record, including 6-2 in the SEC, mostly at No. 5., including a win over then-No. 92 Mario Martinez Serrano. He also became ranked in doubles with Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 78 and is now 81 with a 16-6 dual match record and 7-4 in the SEC, mostly at No. 3. The duo has won nine of their last 12 decisions and defeated No. 23 Thomas Paulsell and Ryan Colby of Georgia to help win that doubles point after they moved up to No. 2 in that match.
Lucas Brown
Lucas Brown combines with Timo Legout to form one of the best doubles pairs in the nation, currently ranked No. 10 nationally and having been as high as No. 5. Brown is 15-11 in dual matches this year and 25-15 overall in doubles with 11 ranked wins, six of which are in the top-30. Brown has also posted an outstanding 25-5 overall singles record in his sophomore season, including 15-3 in dual matches and 9-2 in the SEC, mostly at No. 6. He has been ranked as high as No. 116. He has won eight of his last nine singles decisions, clinching the last two against Cornell and Tennessee. In five unfinished dual matches this year, he was leading in four of them. In the fall, Brown was an NCAA Doubles semifinalist and the ITA Texas Regional doubles champion with Legout, while he was also 10-2 in singles.
Oliver Ojakaar
Oliver Ojakaar joined the Longhorns in January and had an excellent start prior to being injured. He had gone a perfect 8-0 in singles in dual matches, including 2-0 in SEC play. He was also leading both of his two unfinished matches with one in the third set against No. 92 Duncan Chan of TCU. In doubles, Ojakaar has posted a 9-3 record in dual matches and was 2-2 in conference play. He initially partnered with Eriksson, but has also played with Sebastian Gorzny, Jonah Braswell and Pierre-Yves Bailly with Bailly being the most recent.
Evan Burnett
Evan Burnett has stepped into the singles lineup when called on and performed well with a 5-3 dual match record, including 4-2 at No. 6. That has been especially key recently as he has played in significant conference matches due to injuries, including clinching overall matches against Oklahoma and Georgia, along with clinching doubles vs. UGA with Jonah Braswell. He was first off the singles court against Auburn in the SEC quarterfinals and was in solid position against Jan Kobierski of Tennessee in the regular season finale, playing at No. 5. In doubles, he is 4-4 overall and 1-1 in dual matches, and along with the clinch against Georgia, was leading against Tennessee, 5-2, when that match went unfinished.
Rahul Sachdev
Rahul Sachdev earned his first collegiate singles win earlier this year at the ITA Texas Regionals, and his first dual match victory against UTRGV. He has recently played No. 6 against Georgia and Tennessee due to injuries, and although he didn't come away with wins, he took Cyrus Mahjoob of Georgia to three sets. He is also 2-0 in dual match doubles contests with wins against Lamar and UTRGV at No. 3.
-Berque at the Helm
An accomplished coaching veteran with three decades of experience with some of the nation's top tennis programs, Bruce Berque was named the fifth head coach of The University of Texas Men's Tennis program on May 23, 2019. Berque is now in his seventh season as head coach in Austin and has led the Longhorns to a 150-34 overall record (.815) that includes 27-4 this season (missed the NCAA first round match vs. Montana due to illness), 27-4 last season, 26-4 in 2023, 18-11 in 2022, 24-6 in 2021, 13-3 in a 2020 season that was shortened by the pandemic, and 15-2 in 2019 en route to the guiding Texas to its first team National Championship. During Berque's previous six seasons at the helm, Texas is the only program in the nation to finish in the top four in five of those six seasons, and it is the only program nationally to make four NCAA Final Fours in that span. It is also one of just two programs to reach the NCAA championship match twice (2019, 2024), along with Virginia. The Longhorns are additionally one of five teams to have been ranked No. 1 at some point during the regular season or post-season in at least three of those years (Ohio State, Virginia, Florida, TCU). Adding in the recent preseason ranking of No. 1, Texas is the only program to be No. 1 in four of those years. During his career, Berque has helped produce four national team champions, seven national individual champions and 14 conference team titles. He has coached 28 All-Americans who collectively have amassed 58 All-America honors, along with two more players who have already qualified for three All-America honors in the upcoming year. Additionally, he has guided eight singles players and three doubles teams to a No. 1 national ranking, including Timo Legout this season. The 2025 SEC Coach of the Year, Berque has guided the Horns to both the regular season and tournament championships in their debut season in the SEC. In 2024, Texas came within a point of its second national title before coming up just short by a 4-3 score to TCU to finish as NCAA runners-up and with a No. 2 final ranking. As part of a 27-4 overall record, it had been the fourth time the teams had met during the season, resulting in a 2-2 split that also saw the Longhorns claim the Big 12 tournament championship. Meanwhile, UT also secured an outright Big 12 regular season title with a perfect 7-0 record. In six years under Berque where a conference slate was played, Texas has taken home at least a share of the regular season championship five times (2019, '21, '23, '24, '25), including four outright (2019, '23, '24, '25). The 2020 season was halted due to the pandemic prior to conference play. The 28 wins this season are the second most for the program in the era since 1975 when teams began playing shorter schedules, second only to the 29 in 2019. Berque has additionally guided Texas to the semifinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships in two of the last three years (2023, 2025), including the program's first finals appearance in 2023.
-Elite again
Texas advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight with a 4-0 sweep over No. 14 Tennessee on May 10. It marks the third-straight trip to the quarterfinals for the Longhorns, and the fifth time there in the last six years. It was the second win for Texas over Tennessee this season after also defeating the Volunteers, 4-2, in the SEC Championship semifinals on April 19, while Tennessee had won by the same score in Knoxville six days earlier in the last match of the regular season. The Longhorns secured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3, while the Volunteers won at No. 2 in between those. After the singles matches had moved into their second sets, weather delayed the match for two and a half hours, but Texas struck quickly after that with three singles victories that all finished within seconds of each other, first by Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, then Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5, and finally Lucas Brown at No. 6 for the clinch.
-Sweet again
Texas posted decisive wins in their NCAA first and second round matches from May 3-4, first sweeping Montana, 4-0, and then downing No. 37 Cornell, 4-1, to advance to the Sweet 16 for the 11th-straight year. Against the Big Red, the Longhorns secured the doubles point with a pair of 6-3 wins at Nos. 3 and 1 and followed with singles victories by Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3 and Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5 for a 3-0 lead. Cornell picked up a win at No. 2, but Texas closed with a victory by Lucas Brown at No. 6 for the clinch. Against the Grizzlies, the Longhorns secured the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 wins at Nos. 3 and 2, and followed with singles victories by Eriksson at No. 5, Bailly at No. 3, and Sebastian Grozny at No. 2.
-SEC Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and more in annual SEC awards
Freshman Timo Legout was named Southeastern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, and head coach Bruce Berque was named Coach of the Year, the conference announced on April 24. Additionally, Legout was chosen Freshman of the Year and received First Team All-SEC and All-Freshman Team accolades, while junior Sebastian Gorzny and senior Pierre-Yves Bailly were selected First Team All-SEC. It marks the third-straight year a Longhorn has received conference player of the year honors and the fourth time in the last five years one has been freshman of the year. Eliot Spizzirri was Big 12 Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024, while Gilles-Arnaud Bailly (2024), Pierre-Yves Bailly (2022) and Micah Braswell (2021) were all selected Big 12 Freshman of the Year. Gorzny, who transferred TCU this season, had been a two-time Second Team All-Big 12 honoree in doubles and went on to be an ITA All-American in doubles last season. He was also Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023. This is the third year Pierre-Yves Bailly has received all-conference honors after being first team in singles and second team in doubles in the Big 12 in 2023, along with second team in singles in 2022. It is the second-straight and fourth overall coach of the year award for Berque in his time at Texas after taking home the honor in 2019, 2021 and 2024 in the Big 12.
-SEC Champs x 2
UT captured the 2025 SEC Championship title with a 4-1 win over host and 3 seed No. 13 South Carolina on April 20 at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C. With the win, the Longhorns swept both the regular season and tournament championships in their debut season in the SEC. It marks the second-straight year Texas accomplished winning both titles in its conference, after doing so last season, its final one in the Big 12. After the match, Timo Legout was named the tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament team, while Sebastian Gorzny also earned All-Tournament honors. The Longhorns clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 2, and 6-3 win in the deciding match at No. 1 after the Gamecocks picked up a 6-4 win at No. 3. In singles, Legout was then first off the court with a win at No. 1, and after South Carolina won at No. 6, the Longhorns closed with victories by Gorzny at No. 2, and junior Jonah Braswell at No. 4 for the clinch.
-Avenging against the Vols
Texas advanced to the SEC Championship final with a 4-2 victory over 5 seed No. 14 Tennessee on April 19 at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C. The win over the Volunteers avenged the team's only SEC loss of the season. Much like the quarterfinals match against Auburn, the Longhorns were again first off the doubles court with a win by the No. 78 duo of Pierre-Yves Bailly and Sebastian Eriksson. However, Tennessee came back with two wins at Nos. 2 and 1 to secure the doubles point. The Volunteers also picked up the first singles win at No. 6 for a 2-0 lead, but it was all Longhorns from there, as they rallied for four singles victories by Bailly at No. 3, Eriksson at No. 5, Jonah Braswell at No. 4, and Timo Legout at No. 1.
-SEC Championship debut victory
Texas advanced to the SEC Championship semifinals with a 4-1 victory over 8 seed No. 33 Auburn on April 18 at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C. The Longhorns were first off the doubles court with a 6-1 win at No. 2, but the Tigers picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3 and then clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 (6) tiebreaker at No. 1. However, Texas followed with four singles victories by Evan Burnett at No. 6, Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, Timo Legout at No. 1, and Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2 for the overall clinch.
-Bailly named SEC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Pierre-Yves Bailly was named the Southeastern Conference Men's Tennis Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year on April 18. The award honors performance in the classroom and on the court, which Bailly shared with Petar Jovanovic of Mississippi State. Bailly was honored on the court prior to the Longhorns' SEC Championship quarterfinals match against Auburn in Columbia, S.C. Currently earning an economics degree with a 3.91 GPA in the prestigious McCombs School of Business, Bailly is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the CSC Academic All-District Team.
-Tough breaks in Knoxville
Texas fell, 4-2, at No. 17 Tennessee on April 13 in Knoxville. The Longhorns were again without three regulars and came up short in their regular-season finale for their first conference loss. Tennessee took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2, and although Texas evened the match with a singles victory by Sebastian Eriksson at No. 4, the Volunteers claimed wins at Nos. 6 and 2 for a 3-1 lead. Timo Legout pulled the Longhorns back within 3-2 with a win at No. 1, but Tennessee clinched at No. 5.
-Shorthanded victory in Athens
Texas prevailed with a 4-2 win at No. 31 Georgia on April 11 in Athens. The Longhorns were without three regulars in the singles lineup (Gorzny, Ojakaar, Brown) and two in doubles (Ojakaar, Brown), but still moved to 13-0 in the SEC. The Longhorns clinched the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 after Georgia had opened with a win at No. 1. Texas then followed with singles victories by Timo Legout at No. 1, and Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 2 for a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs picked up wins at Nos. 6 and 4 to get within 3-2, but for the second time in the last three matches, Evan Burnett entered the singles lineup and came away with the clinch, this time at No. 5. He did so at No. 6 against No. 22 Oklahoma on April 3.
-Outright SEC regular season/Lone Star Showdown champs
The Longhorns claimed the outright Southeastern Conference regular season championship with a 4-1 win in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown at No. 13 Texas A&M on April 5. Texas secured the title in their first year in the SEC, and it marks the fifth time in the last six opportunities they have won at least a share of a regular-season conference championship, excluding the pandemic-shortened season of 2020 where one was not awarded. It is the fourth outright title in that span, including 2019, 2023 and 2024 in the Big 12, and they shared one in that league in 2021. In the match, Texas prevailed in a dramatic doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3, and a 7-6 (7) victory in the deciding match at No. 2. In between, Texas A&M had won in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5), at No. 1. The Longhorns followed with singles wins by Lucas Brown at No. 6, and Timo Legout at No. 1 for a 3-0 lead. The Aggies picked up one singles win at No. 4, but Sebastian Gorzny clinched it at No. 2.
-Share of SEC regular season title clinched
Texas clinched a share of the Southeastern Conference regular season championship with a 4-1 win at No. 22 Oklahoma on April 3 in Norman. Oklahoma took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Texas then responded with four-consecutive straight-sets singles victories by Timo Legout at No. 1, Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 2, Lucas Brown at No. 5, and Evan Burnett at No. 6.

Sebastian Eriksson was named the SEC Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week for the week ending April 1. It marked the first weekly conference honor of his career. Eriksson went 3-0 in helping Texas to a pair of top-35 4-0 sweeps over No. 35 Kentucky and No. 26 South Carolina. Against the Wildcats, Eriksson clinched both the doubles point and the overall match as he and partner Pierre-Yves Bailly earned a 6-3 win over Antoine Ghibaudo and Jaden Weekes at No. 3 in the deciding match. He then produced an efficient singles victory over Eli Stephenson, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5, including a 5-0 run during the first set, to clinch the overall sweep. Eriksson and Bailly also clinched doubles against the Gamecocks with a 6-4 win over Max Stenzer and Sean Daryabeigi at No. 3, again in the deciding match. Meanwhile in singles, Eriksson was up a set and had match points against No. 106 Jelani Sarr at No. 5 and was in a second-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-6 (6-7), when the sweep was clinched.
-Senior Day sweep
The Longhorns closed out the regular season home schedule with a 4-0 sweep over No. 26 South Carolina on March 30 at the Texas Tennis Center. The Gamecocks picked up the first doubles match at No. 2, however Texas cliched the point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3. The clinch at No. 3 included a pairing with Pierre-Yves Bailly, who factored significantly in his Senior Day match by then being the first off the singles court with a decisive win at No. 3. The Longhorns then followed with additional singles victories by Timo Legout at No. 1, and Lucas Brown at No. 6 for the overall clinch.
-Blue sweep
Texas swept No. 35 Kentucky, 4-0, on March 29 at the Texas Tennis Center. The Longhorns took the doubles point wins at Nos. 2 and 3 and followed with singles victories from Sebastian Gornzy at No. 2, Jonah Braswell at No. 4, and Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5 for the clinch.
-First win in Baton Rouge since 2003
The Longhorns defeated LSU, 4-3, on March 23 at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge. After Texas took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3, LSU won the first singles match at No. 2 to even it. The Longhorns then received three-straight singles victories from Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5, Timo Legout at No. 1, and Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3 to clinch at 4-1. The Tigers then picked up a superbreaker win at No. 6, and a second-set tiebreaker victory at No. 4 for the final margin.
-Hog wild in Fayetteville
Texas defeated No. 36 Arkansas, 4-1, on March 16 at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville. After the Longhorns took the doubles point with a win at No. 1 and a tiebreaker victory at No. 2, Texassecured singles wins from Evan Burnett at No. 6 and Timo Legout at No. 1. Arkansas then won at No. 2 before Lucas Brown clinched the match at No. 5.
-Legout named SEC Men's Tennis Co-Freshman of the Week
Timo Legout was named the SEC Men's Tennis Co-Freshman of the Week for the week of March 19. It marks the fourth weekly conference honor of the season for Legout and the third time as Freshman of the Week. Legout posted two impressive and decisive wins over highly ranked opponents in leading Texas to a 4-0 sweep over No. 31 Alabama. In his singles contest, Legout was first off the court with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Spring 2024 NCAA Singles Champion Filip Planinsek at No. 1. It was Planinsek's first singles loss of the season after starting 12-0. Legout was also first off the doubles court with partner Lucas Brown with a 6-1 win over the No. 42 pair of Planinsek and Matic Kriznik at No. 1.
-Sweeping the Tide
Texas swept No. 31 Alabama, 4-0, on March 16 at the Texas Tennis Center. After Texas took the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins at Nos. 1 and 2, the Longhorns received victories from Timo Legout at No. 1, Lucas Brown at No. 6 and Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3 for the clinch.
-Split with TCU
Texas fell at No. 2 TCU, 4-1, at the Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth on March 11. With the result, the Longhorns and Horned Frogs split a pair of regular season matches by the same 4-1 score. After TCU took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2, Pierre-Yves Bailly was first off the singles court with a victory at No. 3 to even the overall score. However, the Horned Frogs then claimed wins at Nos. 1, 4 and 5 to clinch the win. The Longhorns also held a lead at No. 2 when play stopped and had earlier opportunities at Nos. 5 and 6 where they came up short in first-set tiebreakers.
-The Acres over the Plains
Texas defeated No. 32 Auburn, 4-1, on March 8 at the Texas Tennis Center. After Texas took the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 wins at Nos. 2 and 3, the Longhorns received victories from Lucas Brown at No. 6 and Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5 for a 3-0 lead. Auburn picked up its point with a win at No. 2, but Texas clinched with a victory by Jonah Braswell at No. 4.
-Rally over Mississippi State
The Longhorns topped No. 22 Mississippi State, 4-3, on March 6 at the Texas Tennis Center. After the Bulldogs took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 3 and 1, Texas responded by capturing the first two singles matches by junior No. 13 Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2 and freshman Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5. Mississippi State regained the lead with wins at Nos. 3 and 6. However at that point, the Longhorns had leads on the remaining two courts and went on to receive victories from junior No. 39 Jonah Braswell at No. 4, and freshman No. 7 Timo Legout at No. 1 in the only three-set match of the night.
-Four straight over Florida
Texas defeated No. 37 Florida, 5-2, on March 2 in Gainesville. The Longhorns earned their fourth-straight win over Florida and collected a victory in their first SEC road match to move to 3-0 in conference play. The Gators won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 3 and 1, but the Longhorns responded with singles victories by Lucas Brown at No. 6, Oliver Ojakaar at No. 5, Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, and Timo Legout at No. 1 to clinch, 4-1. The match was then played out with Florida winning at No. 4, but Texas closed with a victory by Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2.
-SEC weekend sweep
Texas completed a sweep of its opening SEC homestand with a 6-1 win over No. 51 Ole Miss on February 24. The Longhorns took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 1, and after Ole Miss earned its lone point with a singles win at No. 4, Texas collected victories from Timo Legout at No. 1, Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2 for the clinch, Lucas Brown at No. 5, and Evan Burnett at No. 6. The win for Burnett was the first of his UT career in a dual match.
-Victorious over Vandy in SEC opener
The Longhorns swept No. 34 Vanderbilt, 7-0, in the program's first-ever conference match as a member of the SEC on February 22 at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center. After Texas took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3, the Longhorns received singles wins from Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5, Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2, Oliver Ojakaar at No. 4 for the clinch, Lucas Brown at No. 6, Timo Legout at No.1, and Jonah Braswell at No. 3.
-Legout picks up another SEC honor
Timo Legout was named the SEC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 18. It marked the third weekly conference honor of the season for Legout who had twice been named Freshman of the Week, but it was his first as Athlete of the Week. It was also the second consecutive time a Longhorn earned the Athlete of the Week honor after Pierre-Yves Bailly did so the week before. Legout led Texas to the semifinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships, which is the furthest any team from the SEC advanced. The Longhorns only fell to eventual champion Wake Forest, 4-3, with two singles matches that both went against them in third sets. Legout went 2-0 in singles with an unfinished match he was leading in a third-set tiebreaker, all against top-60 opponents at No. 1. He won his last match by a decisive 6-4, 6-2 score against No. 17 Stefan Dostanic of No. 2 Wake Forest, who clinched the championship for the Demon Deacons in the next round over Jack Pinnington of TCU.
-ITA Indoors semifinalists
In winning the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend Texas Regional, the Longhorns advanced to the ITA National Indoor Championships for the seventh-straight year and has now reached the quarterfinals in all seven of those. The Longhorns advanced to the semifinals this year for the second time in the last three by defeating No. 14 Texas A&M (4-1) and No. 5 Virginia (4-1) before falling to No. 2 Wake Forest (4-2). Against the Aggies, Texas rallied in doubles to take the point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 and then followed with singles victories by Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, Timo Legout at No. 1, and Lucas Brown at No. 6. The Longhorns avenged what been their only loss of the season against the Cavaliers. After Virginia took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 1, Texas rebounded for singles victories from Sebastian Eriksson at No. 6, Oliver Ojakaar at No. 5, Bailly at No. 3, and Jonah Braswell at No. 4. The match against Wake Forest came down to the third set of the final singles match. After the Demon Deacons took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3, the Longhorns collected the first two singles points from Legout at No. 1 and Ojakaar at No. 5. Wake Forest then won the next two singles matches at Nos. 6 and 2, and while Bailly evened the score with a win at No. 3, WFU secured the final match at No. 4.
-Sweeping the SEC weekly awards
Texas swept the two SEC weekly awards for the week ending Feb. 11. Pierre-Yves Bailly was named the Athlete of the Week, while Timo Legout was Freshman of the Week after both helped the Longhorns to a 4-1 win over No. 1 TCU. For Bailly, it marked his first career conference weekly award, while for Legout it was his second after being Co-Freshman of the Week two weeks earlier. Bailly won both his singles and doubles matches, registering a decisive 6-3, 6-3 top-10 win over No. 9 Lui Maxted at No. 3, and partnering with Sebastian Gorzny for a 7-6 (3) victory over Jack Pinnington and Cooper Woestendick at No. 2. Legout posted an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 18 Jack Pinnington at No. 1 and paired with Lucas Brown in coming up just short in doubles against the No. 2 pair of Maxted and Pedro Vives, 7-5, at No. 1 after TCU broke in the last game to win.
-Not so fast, No. 1
After being ranked No. 1 themselves the week before, No. 3 Texas hosted No. 1 TCU in the Weller Indoor Tennis Center and came away with a 4-1 win over the Horned Frogs. It marked the fifth win for the Longhorns over a No. 1-ranked team in the last five years. That includes victories over Ohio State in 2024, Ohio State and TCU in 2023, and USC in 2021. Texas captured a dramatic doubles point with two tiebreaker wins at Nos. 2 and 3, and followed with singles victories by Timo Legout at No. 1, Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, and Jonah Braswell at No. 4.
-Just short in Charlottesville
Texas came up just short on the road at No. 5 Virginia, 4-3, at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va., on Jan. 2. The Longhorns had match points that would have secured the overall win before the Cavaliers rallied. Texas took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 1, and after Virginia won at No. 5 singles, the Longhorns reclaimed the lead with wins by Jonah Braswell at No. 4, and Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3. However, the Cavaliers responded with three-straight three-set wins in matches at Nos. 2, 1 and 6 after Texas had won the first set in each of them. The Longhorns also had three match points in a second-set tiebreaker at No. 1.
-Ojakaar representing Estonia in Davis Cup
Freshman Oliver Ojakaar is representing his home country of Estonia in Davis Cup play and will miss the match against Virginia. Ojakaar won his singles match against Ignacio Parisca, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
-Legout named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week
Timo Legout was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Jan. 29. It was his first career conference award and also the first SEC award ever for the program. Legout went a combined 4-0, all at No. 1 singles and doubles, including three ranked wins, and only dropped a total of nine games in leading Texas to wins over Rice and Georgia Tech to claim the ITA Kickoff Weekend regional title. It also advanced the Longhorns to the ITA National Indoor Championships for the seventh-straight year.
-Texas sweeps its way to the ITA Indoors and regional title
Texas won the championship of the ITA Kickoff Weekend Austin Regional with a 4-0 sweep of Georgia Tech at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center on Jan. 26. With the win, the Longhorns advanced to the ITA National Indoor Championships for the seventh-straight year with this year's tournament taking place from February 14-17 in Dallas and Waco, Texas. Texas took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 3 and 1 and continued with singles victories from Timo Legout at No. 1, Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2, and Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5, who clinched the sweep of the overall match. The day before, the Longhorns had swept Rice, 4-0, with double point wins at Nos. 1 and 2 and victories by the same players at the same positions in the same order.
-Horns cool the Sun Devils
Texas topped No. 18 Arizona State, 6-1, at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center on January 19. Although the Sun Devils took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 1, the Longhorns responded with victories from Timo Legout at No. 1, Lucas Brown at No. 6, Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 3, Jonah Braswell at No. 4 for the clinch, Oliver Ojakaar at No. 5, and Sebastian Gorzny at No. 2.
-UT system win
The Longhorns produced their second-straight 7-0 sweep with win over UTRGV on January 15 at the Texas Tennis Center. After sweeping the doubles point, the Longhorns received victories from Sebastian Gorzny at No. 1, Oliver Ojakaar at No. 4, Jonah Braswell at No. 3 for the clinch, Sebastian Eriksson at No. 5, Rahul Sachdev at No. 6, and Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 2.
-Two for two on opening weekend
Texas opened the 2025 dual match season with a pair of home wins at the TTC on Jan. 11 and 12 over Lamar (6-1) and ACU (7-0). The wins marked the dual match debuts of several player, including freshmen Sebastian Gorzny, Oliver Ojakaar and Rahul Sachdev, and junior transfer Sebastian Gorzny. Against Lamar, the Longhorns swept the doubles matches and earned singles victories from Eriksson at No. 5, Lucas Brown at No. 3, Gorzny at No. 1 for the clinch, Jonah Braswell at No. 2, and Ojakaar at No. 4. UT again swept three doubles matches against ACU and earned singles victories from Brown at No. 4, Gorzny at No. 1, Eriksson at No. 6, Braswell at No. 3, Ojakaar at No. 5, and Pierre-Yves Bailly at No. 2.
-Back from 2024
In the seventh season under head coach Bruce Berque, Texas will have a different look from 2024, but at the same time return a number of familiar faces. Returning with match experience will be a trio of players including senior Pierre-Yves Bailly, junior Jonah Braswell and sophomore Lucas Brown. In addition, three players were on the team last season and redshirted, including Timo Legout, who had a sensational fall season and moved all the way up to No. 3 and No. 7, respectively, in the preseason singles and doubles rankings, along with Evan Burnett and Rahul Sachdev.
-Three newcomers arrive for their first dual match season on the 40
The Longhorns add three new faces for 2025, all who are expected to be impact players, starting with Sebastian Gorzny, who transferred from TCU in the summer and is a junior. Two other players just arrived on the 40 Acres this month in Oliver Ojakaar from Estonia, and Sebastian Eriksson from Sweden.

In the first year of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships being moved to the fall, Timo Legout reached the semifinals of both this past November, combining with Lucas Brown in doubles to qualify as All-Americans. Earlier, Legout and the combination of Legout and Brown won both titles at the ITA Texas Regionals, and junior Jonah Braswell also made the singles final. Sebastian Gorzny additionally finished as the singles runner-up at the ITA All-American Championships.
-Year eight at the Texas Tennis Center
Texas completed its eighth year at the Texas Tennis Center with a 13-0 record to improve to 94-9 (.913) overall in its history. The Longhorns were 10-1 last season, including wins over both No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 TCU with the only loss being a 4-3 decision to No. 1 Virginia. In 2023, Texas was 13-0, and additionally, set an all-time Texas Tennis attendance record of 1,332 against TCU in a match that saw them clinch the Big 12 regular season title. The season before, the Longhorns posted a 10-3 record with the only losses coming to top-five teams by 4-3 scores against No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Ohio State, and 6-0 to No. 4 Baylor. Texas posted a 14-2 mark in 2021, which included wins over No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 9 Florida and No. 15 Arizona. In a shortened season in 2020, UT recorded a 9-0 record with wins against No. 8 Stanford, No. 18 Georgia and No. 21 Florida State. The Longhorns finished 2019 at 15-1, including wins over No. 1 Ohio State, No. 6 Baylor and No. 12 Columbia, along with three NCAA Tournament victories. The lone loss that year came to No. 15 USC. During its inaugural season, Texas posted a 10-2 record, including winning the 2018 Big 12 Tournament.
