Atwood repeats as a Softball America First Team All-American, Kavan and Scott pick up Second Team honors.
AUSTIN, Texas – Three members of The University of Texas softball program were named All-Americans by Softball America, the publication announced on Tuesday morning. Reese Atwood was selected as a First Team All-American at catcher, while Mia Scott (third base) and Teagan Kavan (pitcher) were appointed to the second team.
2025 marks the second consecutive season Atwood has received postseason honors from Softball America as the Longhorns' junior catcher was selected as the publication's National Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-American in 2024. Kavan earned a spot on Softball America's Freshman All-American list last season, before being appointed to the second team as a sophomore. Scott has now been selected to Softball America's Second Team All-American list for the second consecutive season after being listed as a junior in 2024.
This season, Atwood has slashed .429/.541/.908 in 163 official at bats, while also driving in 84 runs – six shy of tying her single-season program record (90) set just last season – and became the first Longhorn student-athlete with back-to-back 20-home run seasons. She's one of three members of the Texas softball program with 70-or-more hits this season and is four runs shy of joining a trio of Longhorns with 60-or-more runs scored.
Kavan has paced the Texas pitching staff throughout the 2025 campaign as the sophomore leads the team with 23 victories in 161.0 innings pitched. She became the first pitcher since the 2022 season with 200-or-more strikeouts in a single season and is currently tied for the team lead with three saves. In early February, she became the first Longhorn pitcher since Cat Osterman in 2006 to strikeout 18-or-more batters in a single game when she fanned 18 Texas Tech Red Raiders in nine innings of work.
Scott has spent the 2025 season putting the final touches on one of the best offensive careers by a Texas softball student-athlete in program history. Over the weekend, she became just the second Longhorn with 300-or-more career hits, while also breaking Janae Jefferson's program career doubles record. She'll enter this week's NCAA Super Regional slashing .442/.500/.687 in 163 trips to the dish, while drawing 24 walks and striking out just seven times.
