Amaya Haley to return to Lone Star State after spending two seasons at UNLV.
AUSTIN, Texas – On Friday afternoon, The University of Texas women's soccer head coach Angela Kelly announced the addition of Amaya Haley to her Longhorn program for the upcoming 2025 season. Haley, a Plano, Texas native, returns to the Lone Star State after appearing in 20 career matches throughout a two-year career at UNLV.
Haley, a 5-foot-10 defender, made her collegiate soccer debut on Aug. 15, 2024, against Southern Utah after redshirting during the 2023 season. As a redshirt freshman throughout the 2024 campaign, she played in 1,786 of a possible 1,800 minutes on the Rebels' defensive back line. She played the entire 90 minutes of a match on 19 different occasions in 20 matches. Her 1,786 minutes played in 20 matches last season were one shy of tying for the most minutes played by a UNLV women's soccer student-athlete.
Haley, who went on to be selected to the Mountain West All-Newcomer Team upon the conclusion of her first collegiate soccer season, was credited with her first career assist on Sept. 15, 2024, when she connected with Cassie Villanueva in the 61st minute of UNLV's 2-2 draw against Cal State Fullerton. Six matches later, she added a second career assist during the 39th minute of the Rebels' 3-1 win over Air Force. Her two assists on the season were the second most by a UNLV defender during the 2024 season.
During her time at Plano West High School in Plano, Texas, Haley was named to the Dallas area's all-district team at the defender position following both her junior and senior seasons. She played club soccer for the Dallas Sting in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).
