Bouwmeester booted four punts with a 46.2 average, pinning Ohio State inside the 10-yard line three times.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 7/6 Texas Football's Jack Bouwmeester was selected to the Ray Guy Award's Ray's 8 following his performance against No. 3/2 Ohio State on Aug. 30, the Ray Guy Award announced Tuesday.
The senior punter from Bendigo, Australia, boomed four punts for 185 yards (46.2 avg) and pinned the Buckeyes inside their 10-yard line three times. A transfer from Utah, Bouwmeester had two punts go for 52 yards.
Seeing his first game action as a Longhorn, Bouwmeester booted a 39-yard punt in the first quarter that resulted in a fair catch at the OSU 8-yard line. At the end of Texas' next drive in the first quarter, Bouwmeester kicked a 52-yard punt that resulted in another fair catch by the Buckeyes, this time at their own 20-yard line. At the beginning of the second quarter, Bouwmeester connected on his second 52-yard punt of the game that pinned Ohio State at its own 2-yard line. For his final punt of the day, Bouwmeester booted a 42-yarder in the second quarter that rolled out of bounds at the OSU 3-yard line.
Prior to the season, Bouwmeester was tabbed to the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list for the second-consecutive year and was named a semifinalist for the award in 2023. He was also named preseason Second-Team All-SEC by the league's coaches in August.
Up next, Bouwmeester and the Longhorns host San José State for their home opener at 11 a.m. CT Saturday, Sept. 6, inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The game will broadcast on ABC with Joe Tessitore (play-by-play), Jesse Palmer (analyst) and Katie George (reporter) on the call.
