Men’s Tennis’ Burnett wins qualifying consolation match at ITA All-Americans

Sophomore Evan Burnett completed play at the tournament with a top-70 singles victory on Tuesday.
Tulsa, Okla. – Texas Men's Tennis sophomore Evan Burnett secured a top-70 singles victory in his qualifying draw consolation match at the ITA All-American Championships on Tuesday. Burnett topped No. 61 Michael Minasyan of Wisconsin, 6-3, 6-4, to complete his play at the tournament.
The sophomore pair of 8 seed No. 46 Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Ojakaar had been scheduled to play in the doubles qualifying draw round of 16, however they withdrew due to injury. Like Burnett, Ojakaar also would have been eligible to play in a qualifying draw consolation match, but withdrew from that, as well.
Main draw action at the tournament begins on Wednesday with four Longhorns beginning play in the tournament. Seniors No. 37 Jonah Braswell and No. 12 Sebastian Gorzny, along with junior No. 99 Lucas Brown and No. 54 Eriksson will compete in the singles round of 64, while the No. 39 duo of Gorzny and Brown will take the court in the doubles round of 32.
