No. 2 Men’s Tennis downs UIW, 6-1

The Longhorns moved to 2-0 with a win over Incarnate Word at the Texas Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Austin – No. 2 Texas Men's Tennis earned their second victory of the season with a 6-1 win over UIW on Wednesday at the Texas Tennis Center. The teams played out both the doubles and singles matches with the Longhorns sweeping doubles and winning five of the six singles contests.
The Longhorns earned the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins, first by the freshman pair of Lucas Marionneau and Mariano Dedura-Palomero over Santiago Flycht and Mateo Galvez at No. 3, and then by the duo of senior Jonah Braswell and sophomore Evan Burnett over Augustin Salazar and Alexandre Chauvel at No. 2. Texas went on to sweep doubles play after senior Sebastian Gorzny and freshman Abel Forger secured a 7-5 win over Alejandro Hernandez and Emilio Vila at No. 1.
In singles play, Dedura-Palomero was first off the court, posting a decisive 6-0, 6-2 victory over Flyckt at No. 5. Shortly after, Braswell earned his second singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Geraldo Delgado No. 3 to extend Texas' lead to 3-0. Texas then secured the team win as Burnett earned a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Ian Uraga at No. 6.
After the Longhorns clinched the match, sophomore Sebastian Eriksson added another point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Vila at No. 2 to make it 6-0. Incarnate Word picked up its lone point of the match as Hernandez earned a 7-5, 7-5 win over Abel Forger at No. 1.
The Longhorns will next face No. 5 Virginia at the Texas Tennis Center on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT.

First Set: Vila held the first game, but after six-straight breaks, Eriksson won the last three.
Second Set: Eriksson broke for a 4-3 lead and the last three games were then held, including on deuce points for Erkisson's two service games.
Singles No. 1: Hernandez (UIW) def. Forger (TEX) 7-5, 7-5
First Set: Hernadez broke in the final game to win.
Second Set: Although Forger led, 4-2, Hernandez won five of the last six games, including his last four on deuce points.
