Texas’ 13 players, including 10 active players, still alive in NFL playoffs are most of any program
AUSTIN, Texas – As the NFL Playoffs reach the AFC and NFC Championship Games, 13 former Longhorns are still a part of the playoffs — the most of any college program. That total includes 10 active players — which is also the most of any program — while two are on practice squads and one is out with an injury. The Denver Broncos have six former Longhorns on their active roster, while the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks each have three, and the New England Patriots have one.
Most Active Players still in NFL Playoffs
10 - TEXAS
9 - Alabama
7 - LSU, Michigan, Ohio State
Most Players on NFL Playoff team rosters (includes practice squad/IR)
13 - TEXAS
10 - Ole Miss
9 - Alabama, Ohio State
8 - LSU
With at least one player on each of the four remaining teams, a former Longhorn is guaranteed to be on both sidelines of Super Bowl, and it will be the 20th time in the last 21 years for there to be at least one in the game. The Longhorns had a school-best streak of 17-straight years with a player in The Big Game from 2006-22, and Super Bowl LX (Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, Calif.) will extend UT's current streak to three in a row. Taking it a step further, with a player assured to be on both Super Bowl squads, a Longhorn will be a part of a Lombardi Trophy-winning squad for the third-consecutive year, as well.
