Rori Harmon moves into second on the Longhorns all-time steals list and team improves to 18-0.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas women's basketball (18-0) saw Kyla Oldacre's second double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds as it took a 97-36 victory over Auburn on Thursday at Moody Center.
The Longhorns saw five players recording double digits. Texas was led by Oldacre, recording a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. It marks Oldacre's second double-double of the season and the sixth of her career. Sophomore Justice Carlton registered 17 points and nine rebounds. Breya Cunningham added 15 points and five rebounds while Madison Booker recorded 16 points and seven rebounds. Rori Harmon led the Longhorns with seven assists in the win. In addition, Harmon is now 11 steals away from tying program record in steals with three tonight, currently held by Linda Waggoner at 346.
Texas opened the game with a 20-0 run, holding the Tigers to only five points in the first quarter. Carlton and Cunnigham led the team to score seven points, and the Longhorns went 6-for-7 at the free throw line. Texas forced 11 turnovers, scoring 14 points off those turnovers.
The Longhorns went on an 8-0 run for 2:37 to start the second quarter. Harmon led the Horns with ten points, shooting perfect in field goals and free throw attempts in the quarter. Texas ended the half scoring 28 points off 18 turnovers from the Tigers.
Texas outscored Auburn 24-7 in the third quarter. Carlton scored eight points, shooting 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Texas registered 15 rebounds in the third quarter. The Horns went 4-for-5 from field goal to end the third quarter.
Texas went on a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter. The Longhorns bench dominated the fourth quarter, scoring 23 points, led by Oldacre's 12 points and five rebounds effort. Texas secured 12 offensive rebounds in the second half, contributing to 16 second chance points.
