No. 2 Women's Basketball falls at No. 12 LSU, 70-65

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 2 Texas women's basketball team cut a double-digit deficit to three points in the fourth quarter, but could not complete the comeback as they fell to No. 12 LSU 70-65 on Sunday.
Kyla Oldacre recorded her third double-double of the season with 16 points and tied her career-high with 16 rebounds. Madison Booker scored 20 points in the second half and tallied 24 for the game on 10-of-16 shooting from the field. Jordan Lee also scored in double figures with 12 points.
With LSU leading 5-3 in the opening minutes of the first quarter, the Longhorns used a 6-0 run and took a 9-5 lead on a layup by Kyla Oldacre. LSU answered with a 6-0 run of their own, before Madison Booker scored at the buzzer to make it 11-11 at the end of the first quarter.
Jordan Lee put Texas up 14-12 with a steal and three-point play for the Longhorns. Bryanna Preston made back-to-back baskets for Texas, but LSU took a 30-25 lead into halftime.
The Longhorns got down by as many as 14 points in the second half but used a 13-3 run and narrowed the gap to three points at 55-52 on a Booker 3-point field goal with 6:03 to play in the game. Oldacre made a pair of free-throws at the 2:30 mark of the fourth quarter to make the score 61-57. After an LSU field goal the Longhorns cut it to two again on a layup by Justice Carlton, but LSU answered with a 3-point field goal to go up seven.
Up next the Longhorns travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on No. 3 South Carolina on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
