No. 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving’s Nick Harris earns silver in 1-meter at day one of the SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving opened the SEC Championships with a podium finish in the men's 1-meter dive as Nick Harris earned silver with a finals score of 400.70 on Monday evening at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Harris advanced to the championship final after totaling 344.95 in prelims, highlighted by a 64.00 on his forward 2 1/2 somersault 1 twist pike and a 60.45 on his inward 2 1/2 somersault tuck.
In the finals, Harris elevated his performance across the board, posting a round-best 75.00 on his reverse 2 1/2 somersault tuck (305C). He added a 71.30 on his inward 2 1/2 somersault tuck (405C), along with scores of 66.00, 63.00, 63.00 and 62.40 across his remaining dives to secure second overall.
Jacob Jones placed third in the consolation final with a total of 328.55. His efforts were highlighted by a 60.00 on his reverse 2 1/2 somersault tuck and a 55.50 on his back 2 1/2 somersault tuck during the afternoon session.
The SEC Championships continue Tuesday with the men and women 1650 freestyle prelims starting at 10:30 a.m. CT, the women's 1-meter prelims starting at 11:00 a.m. CT followed by the consolation finals (1-meter) starting at 1:25 p.m. CT and the 200 Mixed Medley Relay, 800 Freestyle Relay, Women's 1-meter finals set to begin at 4:00 p.m. CT at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
The SEC Championships continue Tuesday with the men's and women's 1650 freestyle prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT and the women's 1-meter prelims at 11 a.m. CT. The women's 1-meter consolation final is set for 1:25 p.m. CT. Finals begin at 4 p.m. CT with the 200-yard mixed medley relay, 800-yard freestyle relay and women's 1-meter final at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
