Longhorns set to play quartet of contests under first-year head coach Margueritte Bates
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas soccer team will play four exhibition matches this spring, as announced by head coach Margueritte Bates on Thursday morning.
The Longhorns will kick off their slate with a contest against the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League on March 7 at Houston Sports Park. Texas last faced off against the NWSL power in 2019.
Following spring break, the Longhorns travel down I-35 south to face nearby foe Texas State on April 3 at Bobcat Soccer Complex. Texas leads the all-time series, 4-0.
The Longhorns return to the friendly confines of Mike A. Myers Stadium on April 11, hosting UTSA on The Forty Acres. Texas and UTSA met during the 2025 preseason, with the Longhorns claiming a 2-0 win in Austin.
Texas concludes its spring schedule with a Red River Rivalry meeting against Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl on April 19. The Longhorns boast a 20-11-2 advantage over the Sooners since the two sides first squared off in 1997.
The spring provides fans their first look at Bates' squad, as she heads into her inaugural campaign at Texas.
Bates arrives on The Forty Acres after an extraordinary four-year tenure at UCLA, where she became the first rookie head coach to win the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship in 2022.
During her time with the Bruins, Bates compiled a 67-13-9 (.803) ledger, the fourth-best mark of any program during that stretch. The two-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year guided UCLA to a pair of conference titles and four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
