Men and Women’s Diving complete day one of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships

Four Longhorn divers secured bids to the NCAA Championships.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Nick Harris placed fourth overall on the 3-meter springboard while sophomore Jacob Jones earned the final automatic qualifying position with a seventh-place finish. Sophomore Luke Forester finished 10th overall and remains in position to qualify if he secures a top-seven automatic spot in the 1-meter event on day two. For the women, juniors Bayleigh Cranford and Caroline Kupka each secured automatic bids to the NCAA Championships on the 1-meter springboard after finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, in the finals. Junior Amanda Stalfort placed 19th in the preliminary round Monday afternoon.
Senior Nick Harris led the Longhorn men on the 3-meter springboard, placing fourth overall with a combined score of 752.20 to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Harris totaled 373.10 points during the preliminary round to advance to the finals before adding 379.10 points in the evening session. His performance was highlighted by strong executions on his Forward 3 1/2 Somersault Pike and Forward 2 1/2 Somersault with two twists, each earning 68.20 and 71.40 points respectively during the finals.
Sophomore Jacob Jones secured the final automatic qualifying position on the 3-meter springboard, finishing seventh overall with a combined score of 715.10. Jones totaled 344.25 points in the preliminary round to advance to the finals before adding 370.85 points in the evening session. His finals performance included a 65.10-point effort on the Forward 3 1/2 Somersault Pike and a 64.50-point score on the Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike.
Sophomore Luke Forester finished 10th overall on the 3-meter springboard with a combined score of 704.15. Forester recorded 338.60 points during the preliminary round to advance to the finals before adding 365.55 points in the evening session. His finals performance included a 63.55-point effort on the Forward 3 1/2 Somersault Pike along with a trio of 63.00-point dives on the Forward 2 1/2 Somersault 1 Twist Pike, Back 2 1/2 Somersault Pike and Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike.
For the women, Junior Bayleigh Cranford secured an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships with a seventh-place finish on the 1-meter springboard, posting a combined score of 584.40. Cranford totaled 283.25 points in the preliminary round to advance to the finals before adding 301.15 points in the evening session. Her finals performance included a 55.50-point Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck and a 55.00-point Back 1 1/2 Somersault with 1 1/2 Twist Free.
Junior Caroline Kupka also secured an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships after placing eighth on the 1-meter springboard with a combined score of 580.90. Kupka recorded 275.00 points in the preliminary round to advance to the finals before adding 305.90 points in the evening session. Her finals performance was highlighted by a 57.20-point Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault with 1 1/2 Twist Free along with a 54.60-point Forward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike.
Junior Amanda Stalfort competed in the 1-meter springboard preliminary round, finishing 19th overall with a score of 263.10. Her performance included a 50.70-point Forward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike and a 46.80-point Inward 1 1/2 Somersault Pike.
The NCAA Zone D Championships continue Tuesday with the women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter events.
