Diving leads NCAA Zone D Championships after adding four NCAA qualifiers on day two

The Longhorns sit atop the team standings of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships with 99 points overall.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Longhorns lead the team standings through two days of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships with 99 points overall. The Texas men sit in first place with 76 points and the women currently rank third with 23 points.
Texas also secured four additional NCAA Championships qualifications during Tuesday's competition as Nick Harris, Jacob Jones and Luke Forester each earned bids on the 1-meter springboard. Forester also qualified on the 3-meter after finishing within the top 12 on the event Monday, giving all three Longhorn men qualification in both springboard events at the NCAA Championships later this month in Atlanta.
On the women's side, Bayleigh Cranford added a second NCAA qualifying event after securing her spot on the 3-meter springboard. Texas will have three divers competing in Wednesday's platform event as Cranford, Sarah Carruthers and Jones take the board. Jones and Cranford can qualify for the NCAA Championships on platform with a top-12 finish while Carruthers must finish within the top 11 to earn a bid.
Men's diving saw senior Nick Harris placed second overall on the 1-meter springboard with a combined score of 739.85 to secure an NCAA Championships qualifying spot. Harris carried a preliminary score of 376.65 into the finals before adding 363.20 points in the evening session. His finals performance included a 71.30-point Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck along with a 62.40-point Forward 2 1/2 Somersault with one twist Pike.
Sophomore Luke Forester placed fifth overall on the 1-meter springboard with a combined score of 699.10 to secure an NCAA Championships qualifying spot. Forester carried a preliminary score of 348.65 into the finals before adding 350.45 points in the evening session. His finals performance included a 63.55-point Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck and a 63.00-point Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck.
Sophomore Jacob Jones placed eighth overall on the 1-meter springboard with a combined score of 655.70 to secure an NCAA Championships qualifying spot. Jones carried a preliminary score of 330.80 into the finals before adding 324.90 points in the evening session. His finals performance included a 63.00-point Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck and a 61.50-point Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck.
For the women, Junior Bayleigh Cranford placed third overall on the 3-meter springboard with a combined score of 702.35 to secure an NCAA Championships qualifying spot. Cranford carried a preliminary score of 353.50 into the finals before adding 348.85 points in the evening session. Her performance included a 63.00-point Forward 3 1/2 Somersault Tuck along with a pair of 60.20-point dives on the Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck and Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck.
Junior Amanda Stalfort placed 11th overall on the 3-meter springboard with a combined score of 586.60. Stalfort carried a preliminary score of 302.05 into the finals before adding 284.55 points in the evening session. Her finals performance included a 58.80-point Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck and a 53.20-point Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck.
Senior Sarah Carruthers placed 15th overall on the 3-meter springboard with a combined score of 570.35. Carruthers carried a preliminary score of 287.05 into the finals before adding 283.30 points in the evening session. Her finals performance included a 57.40-point Back 1 1/2 Somersault with 2 1/2 Twists Free and a 48.60-point Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck.
Junior Caroline Kupka placed 17th overall on the 3-meter springboard with a combined score of 560.80. Kupka carried a preliminary score of 283.35 into the finals before adding 277.45 points in the evening session. Her finals performance included a 53.20-point Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck and a 50.00-point Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault with 1 1/2 Twist Free.
Texas will finish out competition Wednesday, March 11th.
