No. 5 Women’s Golf tied for eighth place after opening round of NCAA Championship

Farah O’Keefe leads the Longhorns with 3-under 69 on day one.
CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 5 Texas Women's Golf team played their final four holes in 5-under and carded a round of even-par on day one of the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa on Friday.
The Longhorns are tied for eighth-place on the team leaderboard after the opening 18 holes of play. Texas made eight birdies on their final five holes with four of those birdies coming on holes 17 and 18.
Farah O'Keefe, the No. 1 ranked player in women's college golf carded six birdies and an opening 3-under 69. O'Keefe is T3 on the individual leaderboard and one shot back on the lead.
Cindy Hsu and Lauren Kim each carded rounds of 1-under 71. Angela Heo shot a 5-over 77 and Selina Liao 6-over 78.
The Longhorns will tee off tomorrow from hole 10 at 8:52 a.m. CT and will again play with Texas A&M and Auburn.
The Lineup
Farah O'Keefe shot her best opening round at the NCAA Championship with a 3-under 69. O'Keefe carded six birdies, including back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2 and 17 and 18.
Cindy Hsu birdies holes 17 and 18 on her round to finish with a score of 1-under 71. Hsu carded three birdies in her round and is T22 on the individual leaderboard.
Lauren Kim shot 3-under on her back nine holes and 1-under 71 for the round. Kim is T22 on the individual leaderboard. Kim birdies holes 13, 16 and 18 on the back nine.
Angela Heo birdied holes 5 and 17 in her round and carded a score of 5-over 77.
Selina Liao carded a round of 6-over 78. Liao made par on eight of her last nine holes.
