No. 5 Women’s Golf falls in NCAA Championship quarterfinals to Eastern Michigan

Texas season ends in match play quarterfinals at the NCAA Championship.
CARLSBAD, Calif. – A season that saw Texas women's golf win two events and advance to the NCAA Championship for the 10th straight season, came to an end on Tuesday in a 3-1 defeat to Eastern Michigan in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.
The Longhorns, making their 34th appearance at the NCAA Championship, were seeded No. 4 after the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship and advanced to match play for the fifth time in the last seven seasons.
Lauren Kim was the first one out for Texas and put the Longhorns on the board with a 4&2 victory. Kim eagled the par-5, 6th hole and added birdies on 11 and 15.
Eastern Michigan got a pair of points from Janae Leovao and Savannah de Bock to go up 2-1 in the match.
Cindy Hsu took a 1UP lead through 12 holes and had her match tied going into 18, where Eastern Michigan made birdie on 18 to clinch the match.
Selina Liao was 3UP through eight holes in her match, but Eastern Michigan came back to tie it going into 17 and the match did not finish.
Farah O'Keefe highlighted the week for the Longhorns by becoming the third player in Texas women's golf history to win an individual NCAA Championship and became the first Longhorn to win the ANNIKA Award.
