Naughton set a tournament record to win the Junior Orange Bowl this year.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Women's Golf head coach Laura Ianello has announced the signing of Charlotte Naughton. Naughton will be a freshman for Texas for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Naughton, a native of Northumberland, England is ranked No. 88 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and was the youngest member of the Great Britain & Ireland team at the Curtis Cup last week. Naughton represented Europe at the 2025 Junior Ryder Cup and England in the World Junior Girls Championship.
"We are thrilled to welcome Charlotte to the Longhorn family," Texas head coach Laura Ianello said. "Charlotte is a proven winner who has consistently competed at the highest levels of amateur golf. Representing Great Britain & Ireland in the Curtis Cup is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks volumes about the respect she has earned within the game. She brings experience, toughness, and a championship mindset that will make our team better from day one."
Naughton registered an impressive seven-stroke victory in the Junior Orange Bowl in January, setting a tournament record at 10-under. Naughton advanced to the round of 32 in the Women's Amateur Championship in 2025 and in 2026 finished third in the European Nations Cup.
Naughton won the World Junior Girls Championship in Canada and the German Girls Amateur and was runner-up in The R&A Girls Amateur Championship. She was named the 2025 Girls' Order of Merit Champion.
"Beyond her talent, Charlotte is a wonderful person and a perfect fit for the culture we're building at Texas," Ianello said. "We believe her best golf is still ahead of her, and we're excited to help her continue her development as a student-athlete and person. Longhorn Nation is going to love watching her compete."
