No. 3 Women’s Golf finishes Jackson T. Stephens Cup with win over Oregon

Longhorns claim 4-1 match play win over Oregon on Wednesday at PGA Frisco.
FRISCO, Texas — The No. 3 Texas women's golf team wrapped up the Jackson T. Stephens Cup with a 4-1 match play win over No. 12 Oregon on Wednesday at PGA Frisco.
Newcomer Isla McDonald-O'Brien put the Longhorns on the board first with a 3&2 victory in her match. McDonald-O'Brien took control of the match with a birdie on hole 12 to go 1UP and held a 2UP lead through 15. On the par-4, 16th hole McDonald-O'Brien birdied the hole to win the match 3&2.
Selina Liao never trailed in her match and led from hole 6 until the end. Liao birdied the 12thhole to take a 3UP lead and carried that to the 16th hole for a 3&2 win.
Farah O'Keefe, the co-medalist of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup had some work to do down one through 16 holes. O'Keefe tied the match on 17 and won with a birdie on 18 to win 1UP and clinch the match for Texas.
Freshman Amy Lee added a point for Texas for the 4-1 victory with a 2&1 win. Lee never trailed in her match and made three birdies on the way to victory.
Up next the Longhorns travel to Scotland for the St. Andrews Links Collegiate Oct. 12-14.
