Sophomore garners first career weekly league honor
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas standout Mya Brandon was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Against No. 8/4 Tennessee on Friday, the sophomore delivered her first goal as a Longhorn to level the match in the 27th minute. Forty-seven seconds later, Brandon assisted the go-ahead tally from Ashlyn Anderson.
A 5-foot-2 defender, Brandon helped Texas earn its first points in SEC action under head coach Margueritte Bates.
The Canton, Mich., native is the second Longhorn to collect SEC weekly accolades in 2026, joining goalkeeper Bayliss Flynn (Aug. 17, Sept. 7).
