Cross Country sweeps Floyd Farms Invitational

Longhorns post perfect 15-point scores in both races to open the 2026 season.
LAMPSASAS, Texas – Texas Men's and Women's Cross Country opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion, sweeping the Floyd Farms Invitational on Friday morning.
Both Longhorn squads posted perfect scores of 15 points, with the Longhorns claiming the top seven spots in the men's and the top five spots in the women's on the 3.11-mile course.
Aishling Callanan led the way for the women, winning in 19:11.2. Isabel Conde de Frankenberg followed in second at 19:15.4, while freshmen Lili Denton and Cara Sims finished third and fourth, respectively, in 19:42.2 and 19:52.2. Grace Kowalski rounded out Texas' top five in fifth place with a time of 19:54.1.
Emma Rodriguez-Wade finished ninth in 20:45.5, while Gia Kurp placed 11th in 20:53.4. Texas finished with 15 points, ahead of St. Edward's with 43 and Angelo State with 79.
The men's race was equally dominant, with Aidan Torres taking first and Zain Hamdani placing second as both finished in 16:15.3. Hudson Bennett was third at 16:15.4, followed by freshman Kai McCullough in fourth at 16:15.9.
Joaquin De La Cruz and freshman Griffen Saacke tied for fifth in 16:16.0, while freshman Colby Huntress completed the sweep in seventh at 16:16.1. All seven Texas runners finished within 0.8 seconds of one another.
The Longhorns totaled 15 points to win the men's team race, finishing ahead of St. Edward's with 50 points, Angelo State with 93 and Concordia with 94.
Texas will return to action Friday, Sept. 11, at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station.
