Voted as a unanimous choice for the Big 12 Conference All-Freshman Team after batting .319 over 35 games (21 starts) with 11 extra-base hits (eight doubles), 13 RBIs and a .964 OPS ... Posted hits during Big 12 Championship match-ups against No. 9 Oklahoma State (May 14) and Texas Tech (May 15) ... Tripled in two runs to grant Texas an early lead in the 8-1 triumph over Kansas (April 24) ... Bashed a solo HR as part of a 2-for-3 effort during the 5-4 victory over Texas State (April 21) ... Knocked in a pair on a two-RBI single against No. 15 Louisiana (March 18) ... Bashed two doubles in a 2-for-3 performance with a RBI to help rout Tarleton State (March 13), 21-5 (5 inn.) ... Was 1-for-1 at the plate with a two-bagger and two RBIs against Texas A&M-CC (March 10) ... Blasted her first career HR during the 9-0 (5 inn.) rout at Houston (March 3) ... Played high-level travel softball for both the Texas Bombers 16U and 18U elite teams led by head coach Scott Smith.

Rated No. 93 in the Extra Elite 100 Class of 2020 player rankings and No. 98 on FloSoftball’s Hot 100 list, Smith played both softball and basketball at George Ranch H.S. ... She was a two-time all-district choice on the diamond.

Full name is Jayden “JJ” Jananne Smith ... Daughter of Shawn and Amber Smith ... Has two siblings, Noah and Kyleigh ... Her father played basketball for Southwestern University in Bethany, Okla. ... Says that Texas has always been her dream school, and she knew it was where she wanted to play and continue her education ... A standout in the classroom having earned four combined academic all-district nods (one in basketball, three in softball) while boasting a membership in the National Honor Society.
