Coached by his father, Bob Shipley, at Brownwood High School … prep All-American, two-time first-team all-state and three-time all-district performer at wide receiver … played in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, scoring the West team’s only TD on a 35-yard reception … played for the U.S. Under-19 National Team in the 2011 Team USA vs. The World game, catching one pass for 14 yards … a first-team selection on the MaxPreps 2010 U.S. Air Force Medium Schools All-American Team … a member of the Sporting News’ top 100 national prospects … rated as the second-best wide receiver by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football … a member of the Austin American-Statesman’s Fab 55 (state’s top prospects) … three-year starter who tallied 203 receptions for 3,444 yards and 43 TDs while recording eight special teams TDs … helped Brownwood compile a 24-4 record in two seasons … named the AP Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year and earned first-team all-state honors as a senior … named first-team 3A all-state on offense and kick returner by the Texas Sports Writers Association … a first-team All-Texas selection by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Class 3A Player of the Year … tabbed the Player of the Year and was a unanimous first-team selection on both the Abilene Reporter News’ All-Big Country Super Team and class 3A-5A All-Big Country Team … tabbed the district 5-3A MVP … helped lead Brownwood to a 14-1 record, a district championship and an appearance in the state semifinals … recorded 87 catches for 1,653 yards (tops in class 3A), and 27 TDs while rushing for 69 yards and a TD … also recorded five punt returns for TDs while averaging 34 yards a return and returned one kickoff for a TD … helped Brownwood win the 7-on-7 State Championship prior to his senior season … named to the all-tournament team at the 7-on-7 state tournament … also participated in the ESPN RISE Champion Gridiron Kings game prior to his senior season and was one of five offensive players named to the 2010 EAS All-Performance Team … recorded 16 catches for 195 yards and a TD against Carthage in the state semifinals … caught seven passes for 116 yards and two TDs, returned a punt 52 yards for a TD, returned a kickoff 42 yards and recorded an INT in a win over Snyder … recorded nine catches for 109 yards and four TDs, rushed for 31 yards and recorded an INT in a win over Stephenville … earned first-team all-state honors from the Texas Sports Writers Association as a junior … named to the Abilene Reporter-News All-Big Country Class 3A Team … named first-team all-district 2-3A at wide receiver and defensive back … helped lead Brownwood to a 10-3 record, a co-district championship and an appearance in the third round of the state playoffs … recorded 55 catches for 936 yards and nine TDs in eight games … named to Class Acts by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine, recognizing the top sophomores in the state … tabbed the 6-5A District Newcomer of the Year at 5A Coppell High School as a sophomore … helped lead Coppell to a 8-4 record and an appearance in the second round of the state playoffs … tallied 61 catches for 855 yards and seven TDs while returning two punts for TDs … placed fifth in the long jump, fifth in the 110m hurdles, seventh in the 300m hurdles and eighth in the 4x100-meter relay at the 3A state meet as a junior … also won five gold medals at the district track meet.
PERSONAL
Brother, Jordan, was an All-American wide receiver and Biletnikoff Award finalist at Texas (2006-09), setting the school record in career receptions … uncle, Stephen Shipley, played wide receiver at TCU (1989-1992) … father, Bob, was roommates with former Longhorns Colt and Case McCoy’s father, Brad, at Abilene Christian and played football … father coached Jaxon at both Coppell and Brownwood H.S ... father was also a football analyst in the Texas player personnnel department during the 2013 season and is now the head coach/athletics director at Belton High School ... majoring in physical culture and sports with a coaching concentration ... five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (fall 2012; spring 2013; fall 2013; spring 2014; fall 2014) ... named to the 2015 NFF Hampshire Honor Society (players from all divisions who maintained a 3.2-plus cumulative GPA throughout their career).
