Michael Bimonte enters his fifth season at Texas and first as the Longhorns’ assistant quarterback coach and co-passing game coordinator after serving as a senior football analyst from 2021-24.
Bimonte has helped the UT program earn back-to-back appearances in the College Football Playoff, including 2024 when the Longhorns recorded a school-record-tying 13 wins for just the third time in school history, including a first-round playoff win over Clemson, and a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Championship over Arizona State.
In 2024, Bimonte worked with a balanced Texas offense that averaged 278.8 passing yards (14th FBS), 158.8 rushing yards and 33 points (29th FBS) per game. QB Quinn Ewers, a second-team All-SEC performer and finalist for the Manning Award, completed 293-of-445 passes (65.8 percent) for 3,472 yards and 31 touchdowns while averaging 248.0 yards per contest in 14 starts. Ewers finished sixth in the FBS in passing touchdowns (31), 14th in passing yards (3,472), 14th in points responsible for (202), 25th in passing efficiency (149), 26th in passing yards per game (248.0), 26th in completion percentage (65.8 percent), and 27th in completions per game (20.93). Ewers, who has completed his collegiate career after declaring for the NFL Draft, closed his time as a Longhorn on a 27-game passing touchdown streak – the longest active streak by an FBS quarterback and the second-longest streak in program history behind Colt McCoy's program-record 29 games. The Southlake, Texas, product finished third in the program's record book in both passing touchdowns (68) and passing yards (9,128), and second in most 300-yard passing games in a career (11). The Longhorns had school record 14 players invited to the NFL Combine in February 2025.
The 2023 season resulted in UT’s first Big 12 Championship since 2009, winning 12 games for the first time since that season and reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. Texas ranked ninth nationally in total offense (477.5 ypg), 17th in passing yards per game (289.1 ypg) and 24th in rushing offense (188.4 ypg).
In 2022, Texas attained an 8-5 record and Alamo Bowl appearance. The Longhorns averaged 34.5 points per game (25th FBS). Running back Bijan Robinson won the Doak Walker Award and earned first-team All-America honors after leading the nation in tandem yards during the regular season with 1,894 (1,580 rushing, 314 receiving) and ranking second in total touchdowns (20), while averaging a Big 12-best 131.7 rushing yards and 157.83 all-purpose yards per game. Tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders was named First-Team All-Big 12 while wide receiver Xavier Worthy was selected as a Second-Team All-Big 12 performer.
Bimonte was a quarterbacks coach and offensive quality control coach at Delaware in 2016. The Blue Hens featured an offense that ranked 14th in the FCS in rushing yards at 227.7 per game. It also ranked 10th in fewest passes intercepted with just six. The team as a whole led the nation in fewest penalties and fewest penalty yards.
A Manalapan, N.J., native, Bimonte played quarterback at Rutgers from 2011-2014, playing four seasons under current Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood.
