• Four-year letterwinner in basketball and track and field and three-time letterman in football for Boone
• Set prep bests of 4:13 in the 1,600-meter run (2005 Drake Relays) and 1:51 in the 800-meter run (2005 Iowa State Championships)
• Four-time all-state track and field selection and three-time all-county basketball honoree
• Named a unanimous first-team All-District selection in football as a senior
• Won the 800 and 1,600-meter runs as a sophomore at the Iowa State Championships
• Runner-up in the 1,600 at the Iowa State Championships as a freshman and in the 800 as a senior
• Recorded a pair of third-place finishes at the state meet during his junior year
• Won the 1,600 at the Drake Relays as a sophomore
• Helped Boone finish fourth in the state as a sophomore and 10th in Iowa as a senior
• Ran for the Cedar Valley Track Club in 2006 where he won a national championship as a leg of the 4x800-meter relay
