"I am so fortunate to have had Shaeeta come to Texas. Sha was part of my first recruiting class, and I've been thrilled to watch her grow and become one of great young assistants in the country. Sha brings great enthusiasm, loyalty and energy to our program. Shaeeta has great passion for our game and for our student-athletes, and her work ethic is second to none." |
Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Fifth season at Texas
Shaeeta (Sha-EE-tah) Williams, former Duke University guard and long-time assistant with Gail Goestenkors, begins her fist season as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Longhorns this year. Prior to conveying her passion for fitness into her new role, Williams served as the Texas Women's Basketball Special Assistant for four seasons.
Williams oversees all aspects of the Longhorns' strength and conditioning program under the supervision of world-renowned strength and conditioning coach Todd Wright and assistant coach Logan Schwartz.
In addition to her role in the weight room, Williams directs and implements the UT basketball summer camps.
A former four-year basketball letterwinner at Duke from 1993-98 (under maiden name Shaeeta Brown), Williams was a member of Goestenkors' first Blue Devil recruiting class. During Williams' playing days, the Blue Devils began their string of NCAA Championship success, starting in 1995 with their first NCAA berth under the direction of Goestenkors.
While at Duke, Williams had multiple responsibilities in basketball marketing and promotions, community relations, academic support, video editing, recruiting and directing the summer basketball camps.
Williams is a native of Brusly, La., and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Duke in 1998.
As a four-year guard on the Duke Blue Devils basketball squad, Williams played in 80 career games. She was the recipient of the Blue Devil Club Student-Athlete of the Year honor, awarded to the rising senior who best exemplifies excellence, academic achievement, sportsmanship and leadership.
Upon graduation from Duke, Williams entered the collegiate coaching ranks as an assistant coach at DePaul University (1998-99) before returning to her alma mater, Brusly High School, to teach and coach girls' basketball for two years. She then returned to Duke (2001-02) and has worked alongside Goestenkors since then.
Williams and her husband, Barnell, reside in Manor, Texas with their five-year-old son, Seth.
