A for All-American
Amy was honored as a High School All-American by both McDonald's and Parade Magazine (twice).
B for Burlingham, International
Amy's father, Ed Burlingham (who refers to her as The Am-ster) is the owner of Burlingham, Int. B.I. is the manufacturer of the Duraclamp , a high-tech thermoplastic "C" clamp used for racking. Among other things, they also design and produce custom plastic fasteners and components for the metal finishing industry. Amy's mom, meanwhile, is a physical therapist.
C for Costa Mesa, California
Located 37 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 88 miles north of San Diego, Costa Mesa is Amy's hometown. Costa Mesa is considered one of Orange County's leading business and cultural centers. In fact, Fox's new hit drama, "The O.C.," is filmed in neighboring Newport Beach.
D for Debates
Unlike your average 19 year-old, Amy is looking forward to the upcoming presidential debates. While she admits to having liberal leanings, she prefers to learn about issues before making up her mind.
E for Eye freckle
There is a freckle in the iris of Amy's right eye, just below the pupil. Yeah, a freckle.
F for Fiji
Amy has been to many places on the globe, including Australia, England, Brazil, France and England. But the favorite place for this beach bum would have to be the islands of Fiji.
G for GET OUT!
An admitted "Seinfeld" junkie, Amy's favorite line is when Elaine pushes one of the guys and yells, "GET OUT!" Look for it soon on DVD.
H for Honor Roll
So far, this psychology major has been on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester she's been on The Forty Acres.
I for iPod
While she doesn't really have a favorite musician, you can probably find plenty of the Dave Matthews Band songs on Amy's iPod mp3 player.
J for Jim Carrey
Jim Carrey, star of the "Ace Ventura" movies and "Bruce Almighty" is Amy's favorite actor. The multi-faceted Canadian, who makes $20 million a movie, may soon be starring as Steve Austin in "The Six-Million Dollar Man."
K for Kabbalah
One celebrity Amy has always wanted to meet is Madonna. The Material Girl, a believer in Kabbalah (a type of Jewish mysticism), now wants to be referred to as Esther.
L for Los Angeles Lakers
Amy's favorite basketball team is the L.A. Lakers, but she thinks they'll struggle this season without her favorite athlete, Shaquille O'Neal. Don't worry - she'll learn to love the Spurs, or else.
M for Mom's cooking
Amy really misses her mom's cooking, especially her banana nut bread. According to Amy, her mom, Diana, also makes a great Chinese chicken salad.
N for Nemo
Amy is a huge fan of the animated film "Finding Nemo." The laid-back sea turtles, Crush and his son Squirt, are her favorite characters. Amy would probably call them "gnarly." She apparently says that A LOT.
O for One-eyed dog
The Burlingham's dog, Linus, lost an eye to glaucoma. Amy and her sister, Devon, also had birds, hamsters and rabbits named Cottontail & Sniffers.
P for Presidential Scholarship
Amy was the recipient of the UT Women's Athletics 2003-04 Entergy Endowed Presidential Scholarship. If you haven't figured it out yet, she's SMART.
Q for Queso & chips
Amy and her buddies can't get enough of the queso & chips at Austin hot-spot Magnolia Cafe.
R for Rugby
Amy's father captained a team to the World Cup of Rugby, and Amy's a fan of the sport as well. Mr. Burlingham also played basketball for the UC-Irvine Anteaters. In honor of her father, Amy wears #31.
S for Snowball
While Tahoes and BMWs are her favorites, Amy currently drives a Jeep Cherokee Sport named Snowball. You figure it out.
T for Track star
A former track star at Newport Harbor H.S., Amy set school records in the 200 meters, 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.
U for U.S. National Teams
Amy has been a member of five U.S. National Teams: 2001 Under-16, 2002 Under-17 and the 2002, 2003 and 2004 Under-19 teams.
V for Volleyball
A setter for the Newport Harbor High School team, Amy would choose to play volleyball in college if she wasn't playing soccer.
W for Whole Other Country
She didn't know much about Texas when she came here (she had to ask her teammates who Major Applewhite was), but Amy now agrees with the old tourism slogan: "Texas - It's Like a Whole Other Country." She loves the abundance of different personalities found in the Lone Star State and what it's citizens have to offer.
X for beat boXing
Kick the beats! Amy (a.k.a DJ Burlingham) is a more-than-adequate beat boxer. If you don't know what that is, ask your kids.
Y for Young Hippies
Amy wishes she could have seen her parents during their college years "because they are hippies at heart."
Z for Z-Tejas
Amy's restaurant of choice is local favorite ZTejas. How convenient is that?
