Texas native returns to Lone Star State after playing in 36 matches across two seasons at West Virginia
AUSTIN, Texas — Alicia Riggins has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play soccer next season at The University of Texas, head coach Margueritte Bates announced Wednesday.
Riggins, who spent the last two years at West Virginia University, will join the Longhorns for the upcoming 2026 campaign. She has two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.
"We can't wait to bring Coco back home to Texas," Bates said. "She is dangerous, versatile and motivated. Coco will add to the depth and quality of our attack, while also contributing to our culture off of the field. She is a very bright student with a very bright future!"
A native of Mansfield, Texas, Riggins has appeared in 36 career contests, drawing three starts. The 5-foot-4 forward has registered two goals and mounted 15 shots across 815 minutes.
During her sophomore season at West Virginia, Riggins played at least 30 minutes on 15 occasions, including a season-high 55 minutes in a 2-0 win over Arizona State. She scored her first two career tallies, delivering a brace in a 90-second span against Wagner in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
As a freshman in 2024, Riggins earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. She totaled 146 minutes in her debut campaign as a Mountaineer.
A graduate of Lake Ridge High School, Riggins garnered First Team All-District distinction, Second Team All-Area recognition and TASCO All-Region Second Team honors across her interscholastic career.
She played club soccer for Solar SC in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).
