LOS ANGELES -- The No. 8 USC men's swimming and diving team were edged by No. 6 Texas, 157-143, in the Trojans' dual-meet season opener on Friday at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
Texas moves to 2-1 on the year, while the Trojans fall to 0-1 overall.
UT winners included Matthew McGinnis in the 100 yard (44.06) and 200 yard free (1:36.86), Christian Schurr in the 100 yard (55.55) and 200 yard breast (2:02.05) and diver Bailey Gao in the 1-meter (316.75) and 3-meter (361.90) springboard.

USC swimmer Ous Mellouli held off Texas' top distance swimmer, Michael Klueh, in the 1000 yard free, taking the lead and pulling away over the final 150 yards. Mellouli did the same to Klueh in the 500 yard free, turning a close race into a runaway down the stretch.
The teams will compete again on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m.
