OAKLAND, Calif. -- University of Texas defender Kasey Moore and goalkeeper Dianna Pfenninger were selected as two of 22 freshmen student-athletes nationally to be included on the 2005 Soccer America All-Freshman Teams on Friday, Jan. 6.
While Moore (Mission Viejo, Calif.) earned first-team laurels and Pfenninger (Sugar Land, Texas) garnered second-team honors, the UT tandem represented the only freshmen out of the Big 12 Conference to be included on one of the two teams.
The 2005 Big 12 Rookie of the Year, Moore led all UT defenders in scoring with 11 points on five goals and one assist while starting each of UT's 21 games and aiding the Longhorns' defense in posting seven shutouts on the year. Pfenninger, meanwhile, tied for second on the school single-season list for wins with nine victories while posting four shutouts, logging over
1,556 minutes in goal and posting a 1.15 goals against average en route to being named to the 2005 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team. Notably, both Moore and Pfenninger earned Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors for their efforts last season as well.
