CHANGSHU, China -- Former University of Texas All-America diver Troy Dumais (1999-2002) scored Team USA's top finish of the 15th FINA Diving World Cup Friday when he teamed up with Mitch Richeson to win silver in the three-meter synchro event, narrowly missing out on the gold medal.
Dumais and Richeson properly executed each of their six dives, including a difficult three-and-one-half reverse tuck, which earned scores of 9.0 or better from several judges. Their second-place final score of 428.43 fell only 18 points shy of the gold medal-winning score produced by China's Wang Feng and He Chong.
Dumais collects his second medal of the FINA Diving World Cup after capturing the bronze in the three-meter event on Thursday with a score of 475.15. Dumais and other current Longhorns divers now will prepare for the upcoming U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.
