Game 1: San Diego State 3, Texas 0
After four scoreless innings, San Diego State tallied the game's only runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Aztecs registered a pair of one-out singles to start the rally and after an error scored one run, a two-RBI home run to right centerfield by Lindsey Marquez pushed the score to 3-0.
Only four Longhorns reached base in the first four frames, with sophomore left fielder Shannon Thomas recording the Longhorns only two hits of the contest. Thomas tallied a single in the first inning and then added a double in the Horns' sixth-inning rally.
Game 2: Texas 10, North Texas 2
Texas jumped on the Mean Green in the first inning, using a leadoff walk by Thomas and a double by freshman Loryn Johnson to start the frame. Junior shortstop Desiree Williams' RBI single scored Thomas, and a two-run double by Willis cleared the bases. The Horns added one run in the third and fourth innings before erupting for four runs in the fifth inning.
In the fifth, UT loaded the bases to start the frame and senior designated player Jacqueline Williams plated Desiree Williams with an RBI single to left field. Sophomore first baseman Kelly Melone drove in a second run before a two-run MicKayla Padilla double pushed the Texas lead to 9-0.
The Mean Green rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but freshman outfielder Kori Cook answered the rally in the sixth with her first career home run to lift the Longhorns to a 10-2 victory.
