Kyle Russell hits for cycle in Baseball's 11-1 win over UT Pan American

AUSTIN, Texas -- Sophomore Kyle Russell hit for the cycle to lead No. 5 Texas to an 11-1 win over UT Pan American in collegiate baseball action Tuesday evening at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Russell went 4-for-5 with one single, one double, one triple, one home run, three runs scored and a career-high five RBI.
For the third consecutive game, Russell hit a first-inning, two-run home run to give Texas a 2-0 lead. His dinger over the fence in left centefield drove in Chance Wheeless who drew a one-out walk.
UT Pan American's Nick Spears delivered a solo home run over the leftfield fence in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Longhorns established separation with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wheeless delivered a leadoff single and scored on a triple to the wall in right centerfield by Russell. Russell Moldenhauer plated Russell with a sacrifice fly to inflate the cushion to 4-1. Nick Peoples drew a walk and Brett Lewis was hit by a pitch to keep the rally alive. Travis Tucker singled to rightfield to push Peoples across and Michael Demperio laid down a bunt single to drive in Lewis, staking Texas to a 6-1 lead.
Texas (34-12) tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning. Wheeless drew a walk and scored on a Russell double down the rightfield line. With one out, Moldenhauer hit a single up the middle driving in Russell. Moldenhauer would eventual score on a groudout by Peoples.
Russell completed the cycle with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. Travis Tucker was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second on a single by Jordan Danks. Wheeless hit a single through the right side of the infield to push Tucker across. Russell singled up the middle driving in Danks and giving UT the 10-run lead.
In addition to Russell's effort, Wheeless paced the offense going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI.
Austin Wood (5-1) picked up the win scattering one run on four hits while striking out five Broncs over six innings. In his second career pitching appearance, Josh Prince fanned two batters in one scoreless inning of relief.
Josh Wymer (4-6) was saddled with the loss for UT Pan American (15-34), allowing six runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out two over five innings.
Texas returns to action Friday with the Longhorns traveling to Stillwater, Okla., for a 6:30 p.m. contest against Oklahoma State.
